hopefully it's his announcing firing kamala then resigning for the good of the nation

Among other dumb things about this post, the President doesn't have the constitutional power to fire the Vice President.
meanwhile back in the real world the president has the power to do what he can get away with without being stopped, the constitution is just a piece of paper

There's no mechanism to fire her though. She can only be removed by being impeached & convicted, resigning, or dying. If Biden says he's fired her and nominates a replacement, Congress won't vote on it. In the Senate, Harris would be allowed in the chair and get to vote if there's a tie. If Biden dies, Harris would be President.

Imperfect as the execution was, just take in how badass it is that we have a president who's withdrawing our troops from a 20-year foreign entanglement while expanding food stamps at the same time. If that's not an "America first" way of governing, I don't know what is.

Can you vile dunces defend this piteous, demented, weak lummox on his own merits?

Whoever gave THG the word-a-day calendar he's using to write his posts should be ashamed.

Jesus, I'm watching CNN waiting for this and it's like I'm watching Fox News.  Just incredibly loaded language and relentless attacks on Biden coming from Jake Tapper.

I'm sure he'll be blaming Trump.

Not everyone's world revolves being out to get Trump. Girl, move on with your life.

I suspect he won't just blame the Trump withdrawal agreement, he's also going to blame the former Afghan "government" and "army". His national security advisor already made that case this morning.

Shameless self-plug, but I nailed it, he didn't even mince words and express it diplomatically, he straight up blamed them.

Edit: He's spending at least half his speech blaming them. Honestly I think this is a very good argument, they ing sucked so time to cut losses.

Let's be frank: as long as US soldiers aren't killed during the evacuation then it's not a disaster. Humiliating, but being humiliated is not disastrous.

Even the GOP won't argue for a return to Afghanistan unless there are systematic killings of women or westernized Afghans, and even then that's really doubtful.

I've been thinking about the Afghan people all day. I have an Afghan coworker who has family still there and was so visibly and painfully devastated today.

The president made the right decision in leaving.

He clearly didn't rush people out because he thought a panic would cause a quicker collapse and didn't realize the weakness of the corrupt Ghani regime or that the Afghan "army" would immediately sell out the people they were charged with defending. America cannot force a country to defend itself at immense moral and financial cost.

Now we need to get as many people out of that hellhole as possible - particularly women and kids.

This is the moment for Americans and all free people to demand Afghan refugees be allowed entry, and to show the world our superior sense of charity to the violent, stupid zealots.

If I were Biden, I'd open up the gates right now and let 'em in. Say "America first, not America alone." This is civic nationalism and diplomacy at its best.

Completely aside from the political implications or strategy of this speech, I cannot remember a time when a president gave a speech on foreign policy where I felt my views were represented and this trend continues tonight.

Even as an immigration hawk, I agree. We ruined their country and it's the least we can do.
