Hopefully they stop having a "parliamentarian" and just leave it up to VP discretion whether something is filibusterable or not

The ones that are eligible for inclusion in a reconciliation package, presumably.

Wow, a real beauty of a bill if early reports are to be believed. If they can pass this, Biden becomes the greatest American president since FDR.

How would this be that much bigger of an achievement than what W did with Medicare Part D

Combine it with the American Rescue, vaccine rollout, and the Afghanistan withdrawal, and probably upcoming voting rights bill to save American democracy and you can make a really strong case.

Probably? Are you saying Manchin's going to nuke the filibuster or the parliamentarian will rule it doesn't apply to voting rights bills?

Manchin will agree to waive the filibuster on some kind of voting rights bill. Obviously he won't nuke it entirely.

Time to forget the parliamentarian. The new rule needs to be, "if the Republicans would do it, we should do it first now while we have the majority." Pass an entire session's worth of legislation in a reconciliation bill if need be.

Democrats need to learn - because they still somehow haven't - that you cannot compromise with a psychopath.

We certainly need to learn better tactics when dealing with them, for sure, without compromising our values and becoming just like them.

So Bernie's saying that the package will include a lowering of Medicare's age eligibility, yet previous reports had explicitly said that it won't? Game of telephone-induced misinterpretation from somewhere along the line, or brewing political battle?

If he really were going to derail a major Democratic initiative (something he never actually does, just performatively grandstands for a while, puts a change into it that it's as significant as its made out to be, and then votes for it), Biden, Schumer, and Pelosi would have stopped talking about it and focused on other priorities. It would be such an embarrassing unforced error to not get it done at this point.

"PRO Act included" does not mean "All PRO Act included" but good news nonetheless.

How is this permissible? Hopefully the parliamentarian shuts this down too as this clearly isn’t a budgetary item

Because it's not "the PRO Act," it's just its individual budgetary provisions that comply with the Byrd Rule (i.e., punitive fines for violations). The Parliamentarian can't do sh*t & there's nothing that y'all in the union-hating GOP can do about it.

This isn't going to everyone, it's no big deal, all they have to do is pass a fourth Stimulus check and lower the income to people that need it not to 75K and under like last time, Yang has called for another round, the fact is COVID ISNT OVER

This isn't headlines like the Stimulus was and if it's so popular why is Biden at mediocre Approvals, he's been touting this for the past mnth

I wish someone would tell him that if his constituents wanted a Republican to represent them in Congress, they would have voted for one.  They want a choice, not an echo.

If we actually get this $3.5 trillion dollar bill through the 50/50 Senate just for some backbencher to torpedo it in the house, the media will be justified in writing “Dems in Disarray” headlines for the rest of time.

I doubt it will happen, but I can’t say that I think it’s impossible.
