You guys are seriously crazy if you really think RFK running independently hurts Trump more than it hurts Biden. Trump has got the conspiratorial loon vote absolutely sewn up.

I mean, Trump believes in vaccines sooo

I think it's really strange how he doesn't have a fleshed-out abortion stance yet. It's the hot button issue of the day and yet he doesn't have a solid opinion on it? Truly a statesman we got here.

I'm skeptical that this would substantially hurt Trump if is Trump is indeed the nominee.

But it seems to RFK Jr. could seriously damage a non-Trump GOP nominee, since it would give the hardcore Trumpists an obvious alternative to vote for if they are alienated by the fact that Trump didn't get the nomination.

The sample size will be too small to do accurate analysis.

The SPUSA will nominate a candidate next month according to SG, it is still unknown if the Greens are going to try and court their vote. Previously SPUSA was angry at Hawkins over not reforming the Greens to their liking, and with Hawkins and West out it will be seen what they and SAlt for that matter does.

The SPUSA is a weird party. I've been on Atlas for, what, ten years now, and every time they nominate a ticket it seems to come out of the blue. I've never heard of a Socialist Party candidate declaring their intent to run before the convention like Green or Libertarian candidates do.

Ofc the SPUSA is completely irrelevant these days and has been for decades, so I guess them just drawing names of party members out of a hat at the convention makes sense.

Didn't Cindy Sheehan try and run on their ticket in 2016 but was rejected because she wasn't a dues-paying member?

I was briefly a member of the SPUSA - spoke to 2016 Presidential candidate Mimi Soltysik prior to his death on a Zoom call. Still have my membership card, though it's been expired for years.

I'm definitely interested in seeing who they run, and it's perhaps important to add this: back in 2016, Mimi Soltysik did get write-in access here in Indiana, whereas Gloria La Riva (PSL) didn't, so if the SPUSA gets write-in access here again while Claudia De la Cruz doesn't, I'll be curious as to why that is.

Also, on a site-note, Monica Moorehead (Workers World Party) also got write-in access here, and given that the PSL is much larger than the WWP, it does make me wonder what they're hang-up is.

Mimi Soltysik died? That's sad, he looked young.

Back in 2020. Cancer, if I recall. Definitely sad when I heard it (though I knew he'd been battling illnesses for a while, so I can't say I was surprised).

I didn't personally like the campaign he ran in 2016, but I respected that he went out there and tried to make his case (which is more than what I can say of some other leftist candidates in the last twenty years).

Honestly, the better question is which states will have RFK Jr. either on the ballot or as a write-in option.

Because a state could be absolutely fantastic for him, but if he doesn't have the ballot access, it doesn't matter at all.

All Trump has to do is bash him for 1 month and get all his twitter influencers who previously gave RKF credit to bash him as well, and that will do it as far as crossover support for RKF to Trump. Thats how they started the demise of Desantis. Those people will listen and believe whatever Trump says.

RFK Jr. stands to peel away some of that crowd if he directly attacks Trump for being behind the COVID vaccine. It would be a further level of deranged radicalization in American politics, but it's a possible lane of attack.

It's been a few years now but the lockdowns, masking, and vaccines really ticked off a lot of that conspiratorial crowd. It was a more active intervention in their lives than woke news stories.

RFK Jr. Has said some antisemitic comments too, maybe this was a bad time for him to announce. There is value in that though because maybe any anti-Trump voter who is even remotely considering voting for him will see who he truly is.

No matter what, this complicates the next season of 'Curb Your Enthusiasm.'

LMAOOOOOOOOOOO

Ah, when republican attempted ratf***ing backfires.....

In all seriousness though I don't think this will end up happening, b/c as we all know (or at least the smart ones know), RFK Jr. is "running" to help trump win. If he sees that he is really pulling more votes from trump than Biden, he will drop out. Hilarious to see all the time and effort Bannon and the rest of the republican fascists put into recruiting him blow up in their faces though.

For one his campaign barely seems to exist outside of twitter and livestreams.

You're not taking a hard, dispassionate look at who RKF appeals to. Rogan/Peterson/Alex Jones/Steve Bannon incel crowd, anti-vax conspiracy theorists, HGH enthusiasts, Pro-Russia/anti Ukraine useful idiots. It's very easy to see actually how RFK hurts trump more. Most of the people in these groups were going to vote for trump or third party to begin with. He only ever threatened Biden in theory b/c he was a "Democrat" and his last name. He killed off any initial goodwill due to "Kennedy" he had about 5 minutes after he launched his primary bid by opening his mouth and revealing himself to be a complete nut job and a Steve Bannon/right wing plant. And now he's not even a democrat.

Most of Kennedy’s voters are young nonvoters or wealthy democrats in safe states. His affect against either candidate is pretty minimal.

His own family has rejected him! They can't believe he's a traitor! He doesn't stand for the believes of his own father! He was bought off by dark money to try to ruin the election for President Biden that is the only reason he is running. And it makes a lot of sense when you have that guy before Biden who will sell his own soul just to get in office.
