Is Beto this cycle's Scott Walker:
Jumped in as a frontrunner, was given a large amount of money and then quickly faded and a rough debate

He was never a fronturunner, especially when he jumped in.
Being in the top three in the field of twenty counts for me as being high in the polls

Beto prob has two more chances to recover, the 2nd debate which he's already qualified for and I believe he has 130K donors from his early momentum that gets him into the 3rd debate. He needs to figure out how to deal with Castro though. Unlike previously where it was doubtful whether Castro would even qualify for the 3rd debate he probably will now and continue to attack Beto.

Beto was a punching bag last night, he needs to be the boxer next time and start throwing punches or all debates will end up with him as the loser

Maybe he's actually using a rope-a-dope strategy and setting expectations super low for debate two.

He just seems like he's trying to run an inspiring "better angels of our nature" campaign. And everybody else is ripping the wings off his angels and smacking him around with them.

Has he qualified for the second debate? He did terribly last night and he should drop out.

Every1 says castro sounds like Obama but am i the only one that thinks O'Rourke literally talks like Obama

Yeah, I can see it. The reasons I thought O'Rourke did poorly last night were pretty similar to the reasons I didn't support Obama in the 2008 primaries.

Honestly, those are my exact thoughts too.

Yes, the similarity in which Beto pauses his speech is uncanny.  Definitely intentional.

The more I hear him the more i'm convinced he is a lightweight media creation. He was born to be in it.

It's funny how much this forum hates Beto. He's the Marco Rubio of 2020.

Not too long ago, the forum was mostly on board with the prospect of his potential candidacy. That all went to hell, and it started with his actual announcement; it was punctuated by his awful debate performance, second worse only to Williamson.

I remember saying that his only qualification was that he nearly defeated Ted Cruz in a year that favoured Democrats. I was told "This meme needs to die."

It's frightening how easily people bandwagon onto candidates who are basically media fabrications, even on a politically aware site like Atlas.

There's also random mayor Pete Buttigieg.

Beto was similarly to John Edwards, who was the media favorite until he lost in 2004. He was never again, a media darling. Beto, could of made a splash at the CNN Town Hall, before Biden announced,  but he never showed up.

He'd need to make some kind of a comeback for even the Edwards comparison to work. Edwards at least won a couple of states in 2004.

Inasmuch as the debates exposed Walker and (apparently) O'Rourke pretty early in the process, sure.

But many on Atlas hated Rubio because they thought he was a media fabrication, and the same thing is happening with O'Rourke.

This man is a clown:

"We need to have a conversation" is just about the lowest of all political platitudes. You're a politician-- you already have a soap box to stand on, and people are listening. This campaign is the conversation; we're already having it.
