The NRA is gonna say “the Democraps are taking yer guns” regardless of what gun policy we propose. We might as well fight for what we believe in.

Voters respond better to candidate they disagree with that’s leveling with them, than one that’s pretending to agree with them to win their votes. Look at Kander in MO and Beto in TX. They did as well as they did because they ran campaigns based on what they believed in.
I was surprised to see McCaskill do worse then Kander but since she voted against Kavanaugh, the GOP took advantage of that.

His Reddit AMA has been a disaster.

Someone asked him basically the same thing I've been saying on this site for months. As I feared, these people have no idea what they're doing:

It's like he's being run by a computer algorithm. He searches the questions for keywords and then regurgitates his policy plank for that issue, regardless of whether or not it actually addresses the question. He can only speak using pre-programmed responses.

It also got hijacked by posts referring to him as a furry. Campaigns that are in good shape tend not to do stunts like this

Major party candidates don't do this anyway. He did one when he was a Senate candidate and it seemed to go well.

I want to know what all of this clutter is:

These posts wear more medals than a five-star general.

People awarding gold and silver because they liked the posts.

Look at the difference between his AMA 2 years ago and this AMA. It perfectly encapsulates why his rising star went supernova.

Part of me hopes that the Reddit disaster would be enough to start pushing him to reconsidering his candidacy, but I don't think I could handle the smugness every time, if Reddit decided that they had singlehandedly killed a presidential campaign

I know about "Reddit gold," which is not really gold at all, but what's with the popcorn and the other shapes?

I think its a new thing. Certainly I've seen it start to crop up on major sub-reddits. It's basically just sub-specific awards, using symbols relevant to the sub's content. So r/startrek might have the vulcan salute 🖖.

I imagine there's data that suggests a lot of people are more likely to pay to gild a post if they can use iconography from a show/movie/content creator.

It's basically just an excuse for more microtransactions.

In the hopes of inducing a brokered convention somehow?

Even if he falls to like 1% in all polls, i see him staying in until after Iowa and NH primaries

Doubtful, it made sense for Kasich because he was polling well there and was hoping to play spoiler at the convention. The last poll from Texas had Beto tied in a distant third with Sanders, behind Warren and Biden. Assuming all three of those rack up a couple victories before Texas, I can't really see how Beto improves his numbers and a 3rd or 4th place showing in his homestate will just be further embarrassment.

Edit: Saw there was a more recent poll that had Beto in second. Nevertheless, if he isn't leading there now, I don't see how he wins after dismal showings in the leadoff states. Far from certain he'd be able to clear 15%.

Beto, should be Warren's Veep, TX is a battleground state. He should stay in as long as he wants. Sanders, Beto and Biden are splitting votes for Warren.

I dreamt this morning that Beto was a substitute teacher teaching a 6th grade class that inexplicably had me in it and was exclusively adults. He was a "cool" teacher who let us watch Midsommar during class and then threw a Pokemon themed party with alcohol in his basement near the school.
