So Susan Rice made it into the top 6.

Along with Demings, Bottoms, Harris, Warren, and Grisham.

No Abrams, Whitmer, Duckworth, or... Klobuchar.

I’m surprised Grisham has made it so far. She does check off a lot of boxes, but I thought her jewelry scandal would’ve struck her off the list. She’s probably just serving as the replacement to CCM.

If no one could match it....she would be the nominee for President....

That being said, I do think she will be the pick
I'm talking about the Biden team being able to make a unilateral pick on who goes on the ticket with him.

Y'all see voters choose people with less than stellar resumes beat better prepared candidates all the time on this site. Stop.

Not to even count in racial and gender bias that she had to deal with both with donors and the media.

Warren, Rice, and Grisham are not going to be picked.

It's between Harris, Demings, and Lance-Bottoms.

Nickname aside ( Sad )I am not especially picky as to who Biden should pick. Just... please not Rice. KLB and Demings are the best choices among those still standing.

I'd be careful thinking this is a credible source. I really doubt Biden's team has ruled out Klobuchar 100% even if bleak now. You never know what the deal is in 2 months.

I don’t read the story that way, that Bottoms, Demings, and Grisham are necessarily on the latest version of the list.  The story starts out by talking about the choices being narrowed to “as few as six serious contenders”, and specifically singles out Harris, Rice, and Warren as being among them.  It doesn’t seem to definitively name anyone else as being on that particular list.  It *does* go on to mention that the campaign has looked at other candidates who are racial minorities besides Harris and Rice, at that point mentioning Bottoms, Demings, and Grisham:

Quote
The campaign’s short list includes several black women, including Harris and Rice. Advisers have also looked closely at Florida Rep. Val Demings and Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, both of whom are black, and New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, a Latina.

Note “Have also look closely at”.  That doesn’t mean that these three names are part of the final six (or so), as I read it.

Also:

Quote
Biden’s vetting committee had conversations with a larger group of women earlier this spring; those continuing on in the process have been asked to turn over financial records, past writings and other documentation. Biden has had various public and private interactions with many of the women his vetting committee has considered thus far, but has not yet had any formal one-on-one interviews expressly to discuss the No. 2 spot on the ticket. Those aren’t expected for several weeks.

Finally, Klobuchar on the ropes, but not totally ruled out:

Quote
While the people with knowledge of Biden’s vetting process did not rule Klobuchar out, she is widely viewed among Democrats with close ties to the Biden campaign as less likely to be tapped given recent events.

So in brief, other than Harris, Warren, and Rice all being on the current version of the short list, I don't see that story as being very definitive with regard to who's still in contention.  Though I would note that, in surveying minority candidates who were vetted even in Phase 1, it doesn't mention Abrams.  That plus the fact that she told Colbert that she hasn't been contacted by the campaign (as opposed to at least giving an "I shouldn't talk about that") suggests that she's likely out, IMHO.

I mean, her popularity has spiked after doing all of these fundraisers for Biden. It went down during the primary because she was dealing with a barrage of false attacks on her prosecutorial record.

In fact, a lot of people believe she's neutralized her record with her recent actions in response to George Floyd's death.

Besides everything, she's a political appointee who never ran for office. You need a politician who knows how to campaign. And Biden, of all people, doesn't need a "foreign experience" pick.

That's a good list. All would be fine choices, with the exception of Rice.

I would bet on the odds that he's going to pick Warren, Harris, or Demings.

How much should we believe the list? As few as 6 can also mean as many as 9

Rice gives the right lot of fodder. Glad that Klobuchar;s bid has ended. She wouldn't of been the best choice. Demings looks promising.

I think Demings is the best pick. She’s a southern African-American, perfect for turnout in FL GA NC. Her moderate record and law enforcement background will help her in the suburbs and even with WWC. Riding the motorcycle can’t hurt as well, A LOT less elitist than Harris.

Honestly I hope Whitmer and/or Duckworth are still in contention but of those six, only MLG or Warren are acceptable to me. I loathe the remaining four.

You don't have ANY evidence for those claims. You're just assuming.

Um, why? Huh

Also, if Biden chose one of those "remaining four", what would you do?
