Explain how Trump can turn the US into a dictatorship when:

- Elections are managed at a state level not a federal one

- the Electoral Count Reform act pretty much makes it impossible for congress to throw out Electoral votes

- The US Constitution unlike Hungary is almost impossible to change

- There are midterms every two years

"Trump can't be a fascist because the law says he's not allowed to" is impressively stupid even for OSR.

Those are accurate assessments of those two people.

Whether or not DeSantis and Modi are fascists is irrelevant to the discussion about whether or not fascists are going to let laws stop them lmao, what are you even talking about?

Dude, weaponizing education and institutional bigotry (DeSantis) and inciting violence against minority groups (Modi) are textbook fascist characteristics.

"weaponizing education" is such a lol statement. It is not fascist to say CRT should be banned and we should not use taxpayer money to fund certain degree programs.

Also Modi was cleared for 2002 riots and there have been less religious riots since he became PM then there were under most previous PMs. So this point is false

Both points easily refuted with a little research.

Nothing you posted about DeSantis is fascist. It is perfectly legitimate for the government how taxpayer money on education money is spent and isnt fascist at all. In fact the reaction of academia post 10/7 is proof that DeSantis did not go far enough  and we really should start telling these so called liberal art institutions that they have no right to taxpayer money if this is the result. Also that trans law isnt fascist and its insane to say so unless you think we were a fascist nation until 2015 which means the word would have no meaning.

Modi I dont deny uses bigoted language but so does the opposition with how much caste warfare the opposition has played. Policy wise though he has not been a fascist and its crazy to say he is one

You'll never guess what trial he's talking about.

Modi's efforts to turn India into a fascist, ethno state are well documented to people who don't implicitly support him. DeSantis is just too ineffective to be a proper fascist, much as he would like to be.

Someone isn't a fascist because I support them and so do my parents is not a compelling argument.

Modi is making huge gains for the BJP among Christian voters as well as non Hindi speaking voters just like DeSantis made huge gains with Hispanics and Asians . Fascist isn’t just “right winger wants to make the country more right wing” even though many liberals seem to think that these days .

Also for India particularly, there have been far more authoritarian leaders but they were all socialists . Of course the left doesn’t seem to mention that because in doing so it has to admit that socialism has proven to be more authoritarian than the vast majority of right wingers they accuse to be “fascists”

Someone commented "OSR doesn't respond to what you said but what he imagines you said" and the above interaction makes a lot more sense in that context.

Why do you constantly make this stupid argument?

Women couldn’t vote until 1920. America wasn’t fascist in 1920. But if the government took away women’s right to vote in 2024, it would be fair to describe it as fascist.

What is so difficult to understand about this?

OSR like 2016 toes the R line of Fox news they both liked DeSantis whom was a terrible candidate for office, DeSantis I wish was the Nominee, he was being crushed by Trump

All Redban and OSR and 2026 do is toe the R line from Fox news on Hunter Biden, the Border Wall and Tax cuts. All bad Policy, we do need a wall but let immigrants in

OSR BELIEVE CELTICS WILL WIN THE NBA CHAMPIONSHIP AND THEY TOTALLY UNDERPERFORM Warriors when they lost in 22

Yeah my Nuggets lost but West is stronger than East and Mavs will win in 5

... no? about 80% of the convicts transported to Australia were CofE, and the rest were more nonconformist Methodists than Catholics. In spite of leaders like Peter Lalor the Victorian gold rushes attracted far more English and Scottish than Irish. At the first census in 1911 the population was 38% Anglican, 21% Catholic, 13% Presbyterian and 13% Methodist.
The Australian Catholic population would reach it's peak not until 1991, when it formed 27% of the population overtaking the sharply decline in Anglican identification.
Australia has always been a fundamentally Anglican culture as specifically intended by the colonial administrators and London, fearful of the uprisings that already afflicted Ireland itself. From the 1820s to the present day the Catholic population has always been a stable 20-25% minority.

Meclazine made the mistake not me, I merely corrected his narrative about Australia’s history. It’s not like our forum doesn’t divert wildly from thread titles!
