Did AMLO "re create" or "rebuild" the PRI system or is that just a thing ppl say in the internet?
Idk much about the situation, I remember him winning Mexico City mayorality at year 2000 as PRD, and then he acted like Trump did after the 2006 election, people called him petrosocialist he got painted with same brush, as other Latin american leaders at that era, like Chavez, Morales, Lula, idk how accurate that is with time.

MORENA is nowhere close to recreate the "perfect dictatorship" of the old PRI. It is true, however, that it has absorbed many of the PRI machines and most of their voterbarse, and there are genuine concerns about the use and abuse of clientelism. But the latter is really no different from what literally every other Mexican party does (including what PAN did during its 12 year rule) and the accusations you can find on the internet saying that MORENA is Mexican MAGA and that they are going to end democracy are objectively deranged.

At the end of the day, Mexican politics are what they are and while it is disappointing that MORENA ended up the same as any other party but with a "populist left" coat, they are electorally dominant because they are genuinely popular with the population, not because of antidemocratic machinations or whatever.

So the President is not directly elected? They are really more of a Prime Minister in a parliamentary system

Yes, but he is also the head of state as well as of government (a rather unique arrangement -- Botswana is the only other parliamentary democracy I'm aware of where the same is true).

Sounds like they want 45 minutes of the instructions read back to them and like 20-30 minutes of testimony.

Trump team once again putting out a spin on the length of jury deliberations.

I mean yeah, that’s more likely the longer it gets. But nowhere near two days.

My point exactly- they're getting a little ahead of their skis after one 4-hour day

It's really unfortunate we can't have a better group of Muslim lawmakers.

Good group of Muslim lawmakers according to liberals = Muslims who agree and are complicit with the genocide of other Muslims like them.

The war with Hamas isn’t a genocide, it’s an ugly urban war that Hamas could end by returning the hostages. If you search the forum, you’ll find this explained in several individual posts. This war is not actually a good thing for either the people of Gaza or the Palestinian cause.

I've been playing around with Riding Builder. How bad is it to use usual population thresholds in Northern Ontario? How much of the huge ridings up there is a result of indigenous representation considerations vs. overrepresenting peripheral regions?

Any reduction in seats results in a lot of protestation, so it's best to avoid unless necessary.
