Things don't appear to be going smoothly for Trump at the LP convention.

No.

Do it secretly and set the ground for Harris to do it.

This is kind of a glib question, in the same way as "do you like cats/dogs/etc" are kind of glib questions. The most important thing is thinking that they should be protected from harm, as with all other sentient beings.

Honestly that answer might even make me more uncomfortable than the people who say that they can't stand babies.

"Regardless of my personal feelings on the matter, I feel strongly that babies, along with all other sentient beings, should be protected from harm." Jesus, are you running for public office or something?

it reads like the kind of statement they'd have to put out after the candidate was caught punching a baby

Oh hey, if you've ever seen one of my rants about the host of Coast to Coast AM George Nori (Noory) this is another one of his hilarious quotes (I heard him say this one at the time!)

"If you raised a baby and beat it and kicked it and yelled at it, it would turn out to be a mean baby?"
July 19, 2007

Of course, I don't think anything can top this Nooryism
"Do you think asteroids have a brain and know which side of the planet to crash into?"

It would be nice if people on these sorts of things would post the full quote because often especially a headline does not match what the person says (especially a person such as Hilary Clinton). Nobody should trust a headline about a Hilary Clinton quote from 'The Hill.'

I also find it bizarre here all the people who claim they don't trust the media but then immediately respond to a headline from The Hill as if it's an accurate summary.

At a minimum I would certainly expect that what Hilary Clinton said was far more nuanced than this headline suggests.

In the time it took you to write this post you could have just... looked into the further context yourself in the article.

Quote
“They left me because they just couldn’t take a risk on me, because as a woman, I’m supposed to be perfect,” Clinton said in an interview with The New Times, published Saturday. “They were willing to take a risk on [former President Trump] — who had a long list of, let’s call them flaws, to illustrate his imperfection — because he was a man, and they could envision a man as president and commander in chief.”

I'm not an NYT subscriber so I'm not going to look for the full context but, yes, the headline seems appropriate! (Horus's thread title notwithstanding).

Anyway, we've had interviews like this come out at least once per year for the last seven years. They're white noise at this point. I couldn't care less what Hillary thinks cost her the election and I don't care how people respond to whatever she says either.

I'm not sure why Horus couldn't have added that quote, but it still doesn't say who the 'they' is. Is it 'women'? Is it a certain subset of women? Maybe she wasn't even referring to women.

She's certainly not wrong in so far as polls still show that many more people won't vote for a woman for President than for a man. There certainly should be nothing controversial about that quote for anybody to make anything out of, and it certainly doesn't suggest she's unwilling to take responsibility.

If something like the ICC existed then you would have seen American, British and Soviet officials also arrested for war crimes which would have been insane.

Why is that insane? Do you think that the winning side of a war should be completely immune of prosecution for war crimes?

No it is comparable. You said you wanted to show the world that we fight for our people , except with stronger we rewarded the hostage taker, here in Haiti we can do the same but instead by punishing the criminals.

There's a massive difference between harm reduction through securing someone's liberty and revenge through avenging their death. I don't understand why you view them as the same.

Before 2020, I'd have said yes, but he botched COVID.

The answer is still a very unlikely yes, but I'm not a Democrat anymore, so I don't count and therefore didn't vote.

If there is any place you should have a pronoun in your bio it’s in an email.

Like in I get an email from some named Alex Smith, Tracy Davis, or Sam Williams, and I haven’t met them before, I have no idea what gender they could be. It’s just useful information.

Not sure why there's a need to know that. I wouldn't know their race from their name either, but that doesn't mean people should start signing off emails with "(Black)" or "(White)".

Because using pronouns is a necessary part of communication. "Michael said that he wanted the project finished by the end of the week." / "Do you have Linda's email? I need to get in contact with her." The same is not true of race.
