A friend I know lives in the Bronx. She is 27. She claims everyone she knows (beyond family) supports Trump and most of the POC she knows want to vote for him.

Another friend of mine, a Dominican male in Brooklyn I once worked for, is excited to vote for Trump. His girlfriend is voting for Biden.

Black friend my godfathers son is a security guard in Brooklyn, plans to vote Trump as he felt the economy was better even if he thinks Trump is a loser

Italian friend in Bensonhurst wants to vote Biden as he feels Trump is a traitor who should be in prison, his wife feels the same.

Lebanese barber who used to cut my hair, Bay Ridge, said he’s voting Trump because of Gaza

Former neighbor 50s I speak to still lives in Bay Ridge was a lifetime Democrat but will vote Trump because of Gaza

My sister (age 50) in bay ridge will vote Trump due to the Muslim presence in bay ridge that she despises

My soon to be roomate, aged 43, conspiracy theorist, in Bay Ridge, wants to vote Trump for reasons I can’t say against Biden.

A girl I know aged 33 in north Brooklyn wants to vote either Biden, or RFK JR, but she’s said if it’s between either it’ll likely be RFK JR.

My other sister (age 51) in Staten Island favors but is not committed to voting Trump as she wants the 2019 economy back

My other sister (44), near Bath Beach, will vote Trump.

All of the above are working class people, not wealthy or even middle class.

Every single person I know in Washington, DC is voting for Biden.

Therefore, Biden will win in a landslide!

(I think you’d better be careful extrapolating too much from personal anecdotes. And knowing you’re such a Biden basher, I bet some of these people are probably just telling you what you want to hear.)

I keep my cards pretty close to the vest when I talk to real life friends. All but one or two know what I feel politically.

I’m not a Biden Basher, I just don’t support sinking ships. To me the writing is on the wall. I’m not the type to go with a ship that could’ve easily course corrected many times over.

Said before I’m likely considering not even voting as I don’t like either candidate, and I won’t throw my vote to a Green or RFK JR because crazy is still crazy.

Hmmmmmmmm…..does this add up to anyone else?

It does if you consider people vote for the same things for different reasons.
Not everyone who voted in favor of the 64 civil rights act did it to honor John Kennedy or to make America more equal, some who did felt that passing it would make black people shut up

So you’re telling me that someone who is very pro Arab/Muslim and someone who is very anti-Arab/Muslim are both voting for Trump based on his views about Arabs and Muslims? And that this is supposed to represent a massive trend that will propel Trump to a glorious victory?

Sure, Jan

As an aside, why do all of these f**kboys look the same nowadays?

Ugly unkempt beard
Vacant lead paint stare
Proud Boys haircut

This cuck thinks he's an alpha male but he's probably sh**tting his pants when he has to drive his oversized truck briefly through an urban area to get to the Chiefs' practice facility.

He looks exactly like a closeted Gus Kenworthy

I dont think they realize just how easy they are making it to promote anti Semitism when you virtue signal in such an extreme manner that would get you labeled a traitor if you vowed unconditional support to Mexico or Sri Lanka.

I'm pretty sure that's the logic behind a good portion of Republican support for stuff like this. Since many want all the Jews in Israel for the end times, political reasons etc. indirectly promoting antisemitism everywhere else helps a lot.

After a five-hour surgery on the day of the attack, Fico was operated for a second time today, which “contributed to the positive prognosis”, according to the Minister of Health, although he is still in “a stable but serious condition”. The Specialized Criminal Court (responsible for corruption, organized crime and terrorism) ordered to keep the attacker in preventive detention.

If the situation does turn out to be "he will likely make a good recovery, but not for a while" then what happens in the interim? What are the formalities of somebody stepping in for Fico on a de facto basis?

There is such a thing as Deputy PM, but it's a meaningless title held by *checks wiki* four different people (same as deputy party leader; KDH has three of them, Hlas four and Smer five). So far, it looks like the ministers are taking care of their own agenda while Robert Kaliňák (Fico's right-hand man for 20+ years) and Matúš Šutaj Eštok (likely soon-to-be leader of Hlas) are acting as Fico's spokesmen. If he's lucid and able to sign documents, I don't see why it couldn't stay like this for weeks or months. We don't have anything like PMQs that the PM is expected to attend and ministers can't be MPs, so he doesn't need to vote. There are only 17 ministers including the PM, state secretaries/junior ministers are irrelevant sinecures with no power or responbility and there's no culture of reshuffles, so you don't have people coming and going all the time. Some kind of collective leadership informally presided by Kaliňák while Fico officially remains PM should be fairly manageable unless one of the parties decides to throw a strop, but then that would cause a crisis even in normal circumstances.

If we are going to be sending troops/trainers into the country, I would rather we go in guns blazing in a massive Gulf War-style intervention with hundreds of thousands of troops and all of NATO involved.  Not like this:

As Russia Advances, NATO Considers Sending Trainers Into Ukraine
The move could draw the United States and Europe more directly into the war. The Biden administration continues to say there will be no American troops on the ground.

Quote
NATO allies are inching closer to sending troops into Ukraine to train Ukrainian forces, a move that would be another blurring of a previous red line and could draw the United States and Europe more directly into the war.

Ukraine’s manpower shortage has reached a critical point, and its position on the battlefield in recent weeks has seriously worsened as Russia has accelerated its advances to take advantage of delays in shipments of American weapons. As a result, Ukrainian officials have asked their American and NATO counterparts to help train 150,000 new recruits closer to the front line for faster deployment.

So far the United States has said no, but Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr., the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said on Thursday that a NATO deployment of trainers appeared inevitable. “We’ll get there eventually, over time,” he said.

For now, he said, an effort inside Ukraine would put “a bunch of NATO trainers at risk” and would most likely mean deciding whether to use precious air defenses to protect the trainers instead of critical Ukrainian infrastructure near the battlefield. General Brown briefed reporters on his plane en route to a NATO meeting in Brussels.
