This election is showing that Fluffy isn't nearly as powerful and influencial as he thinks he is.

Haha, If he loses, (Which is possible), It'll be hilarious.

Don't have time for a complete count at the minute, but here's Count 1...

Senate Mid-Term Election Count Update

Last Voter: EarlAW
Total Votes: 37
Quota: 7

Count 1
Mint (ARC)11(cutie_15, Alexander Hamilton, segwaystyle2012, Libertas, FallenMorgan, Mechaman, Mint, jamespol, Labhas, Winston Disraeli, Einzige, Earth)
AHDuke99 (RPP)7(NiK, Jbrase, Torie, fezzyfestoon, dead0man, filliatre, nickbjor)
Fritz (JCP)6(Fritz, BRTD, Boris, Ebowed, Lief, Hans-im-Gluck)
Badger (JCP)4(jokerman, Snowguy, Rob, Kalwejt)
Barnes (DA)3(Barnes, HappyWarrior, Antonio V)
afleitch (DA)3(Franzl, Swedish Cheese, tmthforu)
Sewer Socialist (LNF)2(Dr. Cynic, EarlAW)
Al (LNF)1(silent_spade071)

Notes
1 Though this vote was cast as a first preference for Antonio V, as Antonio has not accepted write-ins, nor written-himself in, AFAIK everyone else preferenced moves up in rank accordingly.
2 Presumed ineligible.

The electoral maths gets tricky in later counts, but I think if the election ended now the result would be:
#1 Mint
#2 AHDuke
#3 Fritz
#4 Badger
#5 afleitch

Though the gap between afleitch and Barnes in 6th would be very close.

Perhaps, but, seeing as he's beholden to his Party, he will be forced to promote policies of the libertarian-left.

Two seats is twice what the right normally wins.

Except, as I've said, the ARC is not of the Right, and AHDuke really isn't, either.

I don't want to be 'beholden' to anyone (except maybe the voters), that's why I'm not in the RPP anymore.

Eh, relatively speaking they are. This entire forum skews to the left. If you cut the political spectrum down the middle, most centrists would find themselves on the right side of the aisle. Thus center-rightists like Mint and Duke find themselves firmly on the right side.

Of course, what simplistic ideological group we throw certain candidates into is just a matter of opinion at the end of the day.

As I've said before, we are a non-Rightist libertarian Party. What's more, it'd be very nearly impossible for you to be "of the Right" as it's currently arranged in Atlasia anyway, since on all the really major issues of the day (military spending, law-and-order spending, etc.) you are their opposite anyway. The very fact that you are not a neoconservative essentially forces you to oppose the Right anyway.

I'd say the ARC is broader than that, but I concede your point.

Of course with that said, it seems apparent that I have a mandate so perhaps I can influence the terms of the debate here considerably more than you think.

Sure, but if you look at the people who have voted for you thus far, only jamespol, Labhas, and azmagic are conventional Rightists, and some, like Earth and dc_united, are outright liberals of the traditional sort. Your coalition is decidedly not that of the old RPP.

True, considering some of the issues on my agenda (prisons, war, etc.) plus my general attitude that's no surprise. I'm just saying if you expect me to toe the same line as people like Mech or Hamilton you're mistaken, even if I agree with the latter one at least 80% of the time.

Oh, I don't. I do expect you to be closer to us than anyone the RPP could conceivably run, and try to bring something totally new to the Atlas, which is desperately needs after nearly a year of stagnation.

This.
Remember that we are a "wide tent" if you will. Granted I have voiced opposition to some of Hamilton and Mint's views (especially immigration and abortion), but that doesn't mean that I would support blacklisting them. Since I am not running for the Atlasian Senate I really don't expect Mint to toe my line anyway, just like I won't toe his line if do I end running on the national stage.

Had I made a complete count, you'd be there - you pick up some of Mint's surplus on redistribution - but you're eliminated fairly quickly (after DWTL).

When I get around to complete counts, or indeed when you start getting votes, you'll make the tallies. Until then, I'm afraid you'll just have to be patient.
