Putting aside the obvious fact that this entire thing was a farce and a political stunt, and that neither article gave any solid argument for wrongdoing/corruption on Mayorkas' part, a full trial would’ve only benefited the Republicans, given public opinion on immigration, and so knocking it down at a point in time where most Americans are completely unaware of it happening is good.

Probably actually the dumbest thing about MTG being a manager is she's not even a lawyer, although looking at the full list it looks like only about half of them were...showing how much of a farce of a trial this was going to be. And yes there's no Constitutional requirement than an impeachment manager be a lawyer but there also technically isn't one to sit on the SCOTUS or any federal judgeship.

MTG filed articles of impeachment against President Biden less than 30 hours into his Presidency. The fact that she was named an impeachment manager for the Mayorkas trial that never was tells you everything you need to know about the seriousness and validity of this asinine stunt.

I wonder if Republicans are sore that they didn't do this to Trump's trials.

Unlike in this situation, them doing so probably would've been politically damaging, given Trump's unpopularity and public support for both impeachments.

They almost certainly wouldn't have had the votes to dismiss in either instance.

The Republicans almost did in the first Trump impeachment, they didn't dismiss the charges but voted to go right to voting on guilt and bypassed even hearing witnesses.

They couldn't in the second because they didn't control the Senate, and of course some Republican Senators voted to convict.

Just more evidence (as if it were needed) that the Republican Party has given up any claim to being a credible political organization.

They can't govern. They have no plan. They can't work with the opposing party. With a trifecta, all they can manage to do is tax cuts that spike the deficit, help the wealthy hoard even more and make life harder for the non-rich.
They have devolved to what every right-wing authoritarian party becomes - no reason to function and continue to exist other than increasingly deranged culture war BS, like attacking "gender ideology" and "DEI" and making their low-info, uneducated supporters piss their Depends because the border is on fire and its Biden's fault, and instead of passing bills to help Americans we should have non-stop show trials of Biden and his cabinet and family to mask the fact that we refuse to get anything done.

It really is striking how hilariously out of touch Republicans who live in their cocoon of right wing hyper partisan disinformation are. They think this is going to resonate with swing voters, 99% of whom don't know who Mayorkas is, when in reality, Democrats are going to be drilling into swing voters' minds for the next 7 months how Republicans took away abortion rights and are actively endangering women's lives who have pregnancy complications. One of these two issues is going to drive an incredible amount of suburban and exurban, female swing voters to the polls. The other is not going to animate a single voter who was not already going to vote for trump.
