Israeli military reduces troops in southern Gaza, spokesperson says

Quote
JERUSALEM, April 7 (Reuters) - The Israeli military has withdrawn all ground troops from the southern Gaza Strip except for one brigade, a military spokesperson said on Sunday.

The military did not immediately provide further details. It was unclear whether the withdrawal would delay a long-threatened incursion into the southern Gaza city of Rafah, which Israeli leaders have said is needed to eliminate Hamas.

The withdrawal comes as Egypt prepares to host a new round of talks aimed at reaching a ceasefire and hostage release deal.

Looks like the long awaited ceasefire is finally here. Interestingly, the fact that this is only in the South makes it clear that the strip might be permanently split.

Not sure about "permanently", indeed it is hard to see the international community accepting this.

Just released ...

Israeli military says it's preparing to shift from defense to offense on the border with Lebanon.

I fear this is going to explode to a huge military operation, on multiple fronts in Israel.
Scary/Deadly thoughts for everyone involved.

Lebanon has only themselves to blame.  Hezbollah has been launching rockets and raids into Israel for months now and Israel has been incredibly patient with it.

Of course I'm sure this will quickly be forgotten and if Israel decides to take care of Hezbollah, it will be declared a "genocide" and "unprovoked aggression" and so on and so forth by the people who are Just Asking Questions About Zionist Lies.

Hey, quick question, what happened six months ago?

Does it exclude the atrocity happening in Gaza? All the innocent lives lost, all the aid blockage being delivered,  at a point where we are witnessing not only a genocide but a famine. This so-called war is not a war, you can't call it that when the other side has no military presence to fight against a large militaristic force backed by some of the most powerful nations on Earth. The consensus by organizations as the United Nations is that the events circulating in Faza consented a genocide.

One of the most popular right wing pundits in Israel is accusing not only the WCK but the United States itself of being Hamas. The jokes write themselves.

You have never once expressed sadness at the act of genocide perpetrated against the Jewish people six months ago, and memorializing its anniversary as the "start of the genocide" is in fact obscene genocide denial.

I mean, Vosem has tried to characterise me as a Nazi and slavery supporter, and GeneralMacArthur and AltorBotox have tried to characterise me as a Hamas supporter, so clearly that attitude is not confined to Israel.

Hamas Greatest Atrocity

https://www.instagram.com/reel/C5eFcrhtFXi/

Ol' mate suggests the greatest atrocity of Hamas was to put their own civilians in harms way after provoking a war.

They obviously don't value the lives of their own people to force them to be human shields.

CNN: Israeli military says it has withdrawn its forces from Khan Younis after months of fighting

Quote
The Israeli military said it has withdrawn its ground forces from Khan Younis in southern Gaza after months of fierce fighting that left much of the city in ruins.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Sunday that its 98th division had “concluded its mission” in Khan Younis. The division was leaving the Gaza Strip to “recuperate and prepare for future operations.”

The IDF added that “a significant force led by the 162nd division and the Nahal brigade continues to operate in the Gaza strip, and will preserve the IDF’s freedom of action and its ability to conduct precise intelligence based operations.”

Something absolutely horrific and bestial.

But also something that does not give Israel a free pass to do whatever they want, forever.

A reasonable opinion from a reasonable person who would know better than to memorialize the initial attack as "Six months of genocide"!

Hamas likely killed all the hostages.

If that's confirmed, the odds are there is no force on Earth that can force Israel into a surrender.

No one was ever asking Israel to apart from the insane and-primarily-caricatures of people like me you invented in your own heads. It truly is amazing how the deaths of seven aid workers is seen-somehow-as irrelevant by people.

Get out into the real world every now and then.

So Hamas actually tortured most of the hostages to death long ago, and has only been pretending they were still alive so they can bulls--t the entire western world about there being any chance for peace.

Now that Israel has withdrawn, Hamas no longer has to keep up the lie, so they are free to say "ha ha ha we actually killed all the hostages, thanks for wasting your time at the bargaining table you chumps."

If Israeli bombings killed the hostages Hamas would have eagerly disclosed that long ago, Israel got huge backlash over shooting three hostages waving white flags after all.

Sorry, but anybody genuinely suggesting that anyone who has criticised Israel's conduct of this war is urging them to "surrender" simply betrays their total lack of both seriousness and perspective.

If it is indeed true the remaining hostages are dead, that is both tragic and outrageous. But given the fact one of even Netanyahu's stated war aims is to enable their release, from a purely utilitarian point of view it removes one barrier to a ceasefire rather than the other way around.

Interesting statement from Bennett:

https://x.com/naftalibennett/status/1777500022457745696

Quote
Israel needs now to live as a Silicon Valley in Sparta.

Part of Israel’s colossal failure of October 7th was a result of complacency.

Your typical Israeli was enjoying life, thinking about work, the next startup and the upcoming vacation.
Wars? Nah..that’s passé.

We got soft.
We lost tolerance to casualties.

We forgot that we’re surrounded by the craziest terror savages on earth: Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hizbullah and ISIS.
Physically on our borders (!).

Israel’s a first world economy, GDP per Capita of $58k bordering Nassrallah.

Imagine San Jose neighboring Kabul.

October 7th is as if savages with machetes tore down the screens of The Truman Show and we saw the barbarism hiding behind those tenuous facades.

We realized that our neighbors aren’t Belgium, Canada or Vermont.

We were cruelly reminded that Israel’s existence depends on our being constantly alert, vigilant, strong and very very tough.

At the same time, we must continue to be the StartUp Nation:
innovative, technology savvy, agile and connected to the latest and best stuff going on.

It’s a challenge no other nation faces:
To be a Silicon Valley in Sparta.

We will.

This totally ignores the most important aim of the war, which is to destroy Hamas and deter further attacks. It would be surrender to exit Gaza with that unfinished.

Tell me how Israel destroys Hamas to the point that a Hamas threat of an attack in the year 2030 is zero possibility short of going around and shooting all the 12-year-old boys in Gaza. Seriously, this is the main problem with Israel's strategy in this war. They have an objective there's no possible way they can control and their "day after" plan is at best ambiguous on details and at worst nonexistent, yet they act like this conflict will bring out final resolution. It's all very U.S. in Iraq early '00s.
