It's astonishing to me that trump would get his employees (some in low-er positions) to help him to hide crimes (and thus create new crimes). He cares nothing about them, and does not mind putting them in serious peril of the justice system.

And ... trump is not a very good fraudster or "mob-boss", if he is involving these low-level employees, who can most easily be persuaded to "talk" and reveal the crimes. It's just not smart of trump; he is an idiot.

People do not appreciate just how insane it is going to be when this man is on trial in four separate courtrooms for probably over a hundred felonies next year. You thought you heard about Hillary and emails nonstop in 2016? Buckle the f*** up.

Btw this indictment confirms the DOJ has the classified document Trump was waving around at Bedminster and is the subject of the recording they have that CNN obtained. Moreover, they have a witness saying that it was actually that document he was waving around (so not newspaper clippings, etc).

I wonder whether Mr. Donald "high stamina" Trump would sit for in a court room for 10 hours and answer tough question like Hillary "no stamina" Clinton did to a purely politically driven circus in the House.

Except 40% of the country still believes Hillary is more "crooked" than him. Simply astounding.

Imagine being that stupid to order a staffer deleting security cam footage and seriously believe the FBI won't discover it. If Trump at least was a Frank Underwood type criminal who makes sure he's not caught that easily, but he really doesn't even try. Just like calling an official and tell him you want to find the exact number of votes you're down.

Mar-a-Lago employee overseeing surveillance cameras previously received target letter in Trump classified documents probe

Quote
Yuscil Taveras, a Mar-a-Lago employee who oversees the property’s surveillance cameras, received a target letter from federal prosecutors after former President Donald Trump was first indicted in June on charges related to his alleged mishandling of classified documents after leaving office, sources told CNN.

Taveras also met with investigators following the initial indictment in the classified documents case overseen by special counsel Jack Smith, sources said.

While it is unclear whether Taveras is cooperating with prosecutors, some of the new allegations against Trump that were included in a superseding indictment filed last week were based, at least in part, on information he provided during that interview, CNN has learned.

...

The superseding indictment, which adds major accusations against Trump and a new co-defendant to the case, refers to Taveras as “Trump Employee 4,” CNN previously reported.

Love how he had to squeeze in a "But her emails!" at the end.

Many repubs keep saying, "Well Hillary didn't get charged for her emails." I agree with Bill barr's rejection of that argument. They should've prosecuted Hillary, but if it was wrong for Hillary to get off, then it would be wrong for Trump to get off too. The way to correct the mistake of letting Hillary get off is to get it right with any violators going forward

Quote
the basic argument being made here is that Hillary Clinton was let off [after using a private email server for classified information as Secretary of State], therefore it is a double standard and therefore you should let off Trump. And I don't think that that's a frivolous argument, but it's hard for me to fault the decision to go forward because, to me, the solution to a double standard is to apply the right standard in a case and try to apply it going forward, even handily."

I don't think the way to stop the double standard is to keep on perpetuating it by having equal injustice. The argument that Hillary should have been prosecuted, well, what was unjust is Hillary was not prosecuted. What is unjust is not prosecuting Trump at this stage. How do you control and protect classified information going forward? You just prosecute the little guys, but you let the big guys get off if they flipped the bird at the government? I mean, I'm not sure where that takes us.

Wrong.
The prosecutors/DOJ got-it-right with Hillary Clinton (nothing there), and they are getting it ALL correct now with trump.

What Trump did is ten times worse than Hillary between the blatant mishandling of serious classified information along with the absurd levels of obstruction. The argument of it being a double standard is disingenuous rw hackery

Trump pleads not guilty twice in 24 hours with plea to new charges in classified documents case

Quote
Former President Donald Trump, in a court filing Friday, pleaded not guilty to the new charges special counsel Jack Smith brought against him in the case alleging mishandling of classified documents from his time in the White House.

The filing marked the second time in 24 hours that the former president entered a not guilty plea, following his arraignment Thursday in the special counsel’s separate investigation into efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

Last week, Smith charged Trump, who had already faced 37 criminal charges in the classified documents case, with one additional count of willful retention of national defense information and two additional obstruction counts. He also filed new charges against Walt Nauta, the former president’s aide, and added Mar-a-Lago property manager Carlos De Oliveira to the case.

...

With the new fling, Trump indicated to the court that he would not be physically present for an arraignment on the new superseding indictment scheduled for August 10 before a US magistrate judge in Fort Pierce, Florida.

So any hope that Cannon may have learned her lesson can probably be dashed. She asked the defense to consider an argument she (likely) heard on Fox News that neither party brought up. She wants both sides' take on evidence from the DC grand jury being used in this case since a FL grand jury indicted. There's nothing wrong with that since the crime occurred there too.

This will certainly be denied (if not by Cannon, on appeal).  But isn't it a tactical error by the Trump team?  It seems to concede that Trump retained documents that should only be handled inside a SCIF.

Imagine traveling back to 2015/16 when Hillary's e-mails were a thing for Republicans, only replace the name "Donald J. Trump" with "Barack H. Obama" in the original papers (investigations and indictment) and tell Republicans you're a time traveler from a few years when a former president (supposedly Obama) was indictment over taking classified documents and refusing to cooperate with law enforcement. How would Republicans react?

Spoiler: They would have called for punishments I don't feel comfortable writing down here.

Much like Trump, his lawyers don't seem to think things through very well.

The legal team of criminal organization head Donald Trump has only one real goal: delay.

If Trump were President and arrests Harris or whoever is up in the polls in 2028, I would rightfully be angry at Trump and hope he never sees power again.

Biden is one of the most authoritarian Presidents in history for being one of the few to arrest his main political opponent. This reason alone is enough to motivate me to vote him out in 2024.

What a dumb argument.  You do realize that Biden doesn't personally make these decisions, right?  Under that logic, Biden is prosecuting his son.

Donald J. Trump is absolutely TOAST folks, TOAST, TOAST and TOAST!!!

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-rico-case-georgia-expert-says/

Unlike the Indictments in New York, Miami and Washington he will likely face felony charges under Georgias RICO Act. It will be much broader compared to the other Indictments.

That effectivly ends his Presidential Campaign.

Trump ain't going to get out of this one!

Might want to put that in J6 but anyway I don't think it ends his campaign. A RICO case might take years just to try due to the number of defendants. Very unlikely it would be resolved before the election if she charges him under RICO.

You do know that Biden didn't order this right? The FBI acted on its own. Thats how law enforcment works. The mayor of some small town can't order local police to arrest anyone.

In fact the man Biden appointed AG, Merrick Garland, delayed any Trump investigations and nearly shut it down just to avoid it looking like Biden ordering an investigation of Trump.

Stop spreading fake news
