It's still remarkable that Kelly Loeffler did worse.

I miss this Georgia:

The Reagan/Bush southern coalition was so awesome and was when southern politics was at its peak

You're still getting that Georgia - minus the 6-7 metro ATL counties since then that said "no".

Yah but I was obviously talking about the suburbs. The sunbelt suburbs that destroyed Jimmy Carter's hope's of recreating a new solid Democratic south and helped create the Republican Solid South.

Never forget!

Ask me again when we get the final results. If Walker keeps it under ~1.5%, then I think he might have.

But if Warnock wins by more than that, I don't think so.

Turns out the people of Georgia didn’t want an, to use the technical term, “abusive moron” as their Senator.

Look at Walker's NFL stats. Pretty meh. Yes I know he wasted a few years on Trump's bad USFL team.

Would Doug Collins have won

No. He still has his health, unlike Walker, and he has experience, unlike both Walker and Loeffler, but his beliefs still put him way to the right of the voters he'd need to win in order to beat Warnock.

Those Suburbs look great(The part of Georgia I would choose to live in) and of course 1980 also had this

No. For all the flaws Walker had, people forget that Perdue couldn’t even win as an incumbent who was less 'Trumpy' or 'extremist' than Doug Collins, and that was when Senate control was at stake.

I think there is a lot of denial about GA on the Republican side. It’s arguably (pretty close to) gone at the federal level.

To conclude another story of this week, Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan clarifies on CNN that he did vote - like the web sleuths sniffed out - just handed in a blank ballot. Squares the circle of confusion and potential lying.

Congratulations to you, Reverend Warnock! And congratulations to my Democratic friends on your marvelous overall performance in this cycle's midterm.

It wasn't the partisan result I wanted, but I can at least take solace that y'all kept individuals such as Oz, Masters, Laxalt, and Walker away from Congress.

Why Laxalt with the other 3 as he seemed like a pretty normie R.

Didn't care for his character, just struck me as a very vindictive and unpleasant person.  Maybe it was just me, tho.

It wasn't just you.

I don't think anyone is saying that what he said is wrong; but as with most Republicans he only seems to care about these things when his Father was the candidate and when it was something that personally happened to him. And then is perfectly fine with other GOP candidates who portray very similar character traits and policy hypocrisy.

Roughly another 100k votes to be counted in Fulton & Dekalb alone.

If you had told me 24 hours ago that ED vote would have exceeded 1.5m votes, I would not have expected a Warnock win w/o metro D voters pouring the polls. We'll see when it's done if that's the case, but it does appear to be such.

Warnock's camp thinks Georgia is the next Virginia and will be an easy win for Warnock in six years.
Very curious/scared how Ossoff does in 2026. If he wins, its clear Georgia is becoming a blue state. It'll probably be Biden's six year itch so we'll see.

Laxalt was also a Trumpist and an election denier, which automatically disqualifies him from ever holding public office IMO.

Yet the Vikings thought it would w a good idea to trade for him for like 10 draft picks and start a Cowboys dynasty.

I am not sure Georgia in particular was necessarily mainly attracted to Reagan and Bush's fiscal conservativism. I can think of a few stronger reasons they turned against the GOP...

I mean, I can practically guarantee you his opponent will be MTG, so I feel like he's gucci.

The suburbs went GOP first, the rurals went GOP later. Even in 1996 when Dole won, Clinton did pretty good in rural Georgia but it was the affluent suburbs that moved it Republican. It wasnt until W that the rural south become solid R
