Forsyth County was more Republican than Glascock County in 2004. Think about that for a moment.

Congratulations to you, Reverend Warnock! And congratulations to my Democratic friends on your marvelous overall performance in this cycle's midterm.

It wasn't the partisan result I wanted, but I can at least take solace that y'all kept individuals such as Oz, Masters, Laxalt, and Walker away from Congress.

I miss this Georgia:

The Reagan/Bush southern coalition was so awesome and was when southern politics was at its peak
My theory is that it usually takes 10 years for demographic influxes to make a difference in how an area votes. Young liberals began going into the state in droves as early as the early-to-mid-1990s. 2004 was always going to be a last hurrah for the GOP, and in 2008 Obama seized upon demographic change to come within 3 points of winning it.

Warnock’s win now official according to Wikipedia.

They also say Warnock’s the first Dem to win a full term in this seat since Wyche Fowler back in 1986.

'NeverTrump GOP' commentators are really embarrassing themselves as pundits/analysts. Geoff Duncan said on CNN that a stronger Republican would have easily won this race by eight points, as much as Kemp.

Quite obvious that Walker is the least of the GA GOP's problems, as Pollster already alluded to. The closest analogy to this race that I can think of is VA-GOV 2013, and like I said about VA back then (regarding the 2016 presidential race), it’s pretty obvious that the GOP needs a path without AZ/GA for 2024 (NV/WI/PA seems like the most feasible one).

The GOP is clearly losing ground fast in the state, but it's hard to deny that the trend is being accelerated by poor candidate quality. After nominating not one, but two candidates implicated in insider trading scandals while in office, the GA GOP somehow managed to pick a subliterate wife-beating Neanderthal and lose the senate race while winning the governor's race handily. GA may be gone for them by the end of the decade, but some basic competency could have at least netted them a dignified decline like in Colorado or Virginia. This is just embarrassing.

Warnock just seems like an awesome guy.  Like, I actually donated a little bit of money to his campaign, which I almost never do, because I'm so impressed by him as a candidate/person.

You're still getting that Georgia - minus the 6-7 metro ATL counties since then that said "no".

That's not correct as Ossoff just won one (unless it technically didn't count by a few days because of the run-off?)

He is the first black Democrat to ever win a full term in Georgia however, I believe. And maybe the first black man period.

My Senate prediction has now proved to be 100% accurate. GA was the 51st seat for Ds, deferred by a month.

Also, it absolutely can't be understated how important this seat and Nevada are to surviving 2024 and beyond in terms of the Senate. We now have both those seat for another 6 years.

No, it would have been exploitative, terrible and sad. Thankfully, we will never have to worry about that and Herschel can hopefully move into a quiet, perhaps assisted community where he can live out the rest of his life without being used by vultures.

The fact that Georgia's GOP managed to pick a candidate so bad that he got me to root for a Christian leftist is also pretty staggering.

Chatham (savannah + a lot of her suburbs) done:

Goes from 59-39 Warnock to 62-38.

Warnock lost almost 3.5K votes
Walker lost 4.4K votes

Suburbs were LOL for Walker.

Yah but I was obviously talking about the suburbs. The sunbelt suburbs that destroyed Jimmy Carter's hope's of recreating a new solid Democratic south and helped create the Republican Solid South.

Democrats haven't reached their ceiling in Fulton yet. Still, a lot of areas for them to gain in North Fulton.
