That's it for the Cabinet and Cabinet-level posts, yes.

Still plenty of non-cabinet people of varying levels of importance, of course.

Jumping off of this, Shalanda Young will technically immediately take the reins at OMB as Acting Director upon her impending confirmation as Deputy Director, which bodes well for her potential selection to replace Tanden as the nominee for the permanent Director's job.

Yeah. Bumping her up from Acting and Deputy into fully having the job would be easy enough, if they go that route.

There's a lot of other big positions I'm interested in. The military secretaries, CIA Director and FEMA director all used to be cabinet level and are quite important; various other DoD and DHS undersecretaries and agency directors, who oversee vast amounts of money and personnel; the OPM director; the vacant seat on the Federal Trade Commission; various others I'm forgetting.

I'm also interested to see who gets important ambassadorships.

Biden needs to start naming ambassadors, especially to important allies and adversaries (NATO, EU, Japan, South Korea, UK, Russia, China, etc).

I'm incredibly eager to see who Biden selects for Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere (doubles as NOAA Administrator). Very important position that oversees the National Weather Service and other key agencies within Commerce. The position was held by Acting officials for the entire Trump presidency; the last Senate-confirmed person in this role was Kathryn Sullivan for the second half of Obama's presidency.

Does it usually take this long to nominate and confirm everyone? I know Biden didn't really have a normal transition and it wasn't even clear he'd have a majority in the Senate until January 6, but at the current rate it doesn't seem like we'll have everyone confirmed (when you include ambassadors, etc.) until the end of the year.

Within the context of the polarized world in which we now live, we're back to an average pace of confirmations, yes.

Pretty sure Trump never really had a complete team confirmed if you include all the ambassadors. Unsure about Obama but if he did it was only briefly in like 2011-12.

They should confirm many lower level appointments in one vote. I know that's not the rules but, well, it should be.

Murkowski, Sullivan, Collins, and Graham were the Republican yeas for Haaland. Who were the nine Senators who didn't vote?

Yeah, I was kind of surprised, too, but he also voted for cloture on Haaland on Thursday. According to the Huffington Post, he received a letter from Chief William Harris of the Catawba Indian Nation, who supported Haaland's nomination, that strongly affected his decision to vote Aye for Haaland:

Graham actually seems to have voted for most of Biden's nominees. That's one area where he's retained some semblance of his pre-Trump self. As he himself noted during the Kavanaugh hearings, he voted for both Sotomayor and Kagan back in 2009-2010.

Today, Haaland was confirmed 51-40 with cloture being filed for Becerra and Walsh. Also, votes have been scheduled for Guzman and Tai so it is possible that all of the cabinet-level positions (except Lander and the new OMB Director) are confirmed by the end of the week.

Republican ayes for Haaland:
Murkowski (R-AK)
Sullivan (R-AK)
Collins (R-ME)
Graham (R-SC)

Not Voting for the Haaland nomination:
Bennet (D-CO)
Hickenlooper (D-CO)
Rubio (R-FL)
Hirono (D-HI)
Marshall (R-KS)
Toomey (R-PA)
Hagerty (R-TN)
Barrasso (R-WY)
Lummis (R-WY)

☘️ Happy St. Patrick's Day ☘️
Éirinn go Brách!

Today, Isabella Guzman was overwhelmingly confirmed (81-17) as the Administrator of the SBA and cloture was UNANIMOUSLY (!!!) invoked for Katherine Tai to be the US Trade Representative. Tomorrow, Tai will receive her (potentially unanimous) final confirmation vote at 11:00am and cloture will be invoked for Xavier Becerra. That means that Becerra will likely have his final confirmation vote on Thursday with a possible vote on cloture for Walsh coming on Thursday as well. Also, tomorrow, Murthy and Levine will be voted on in committee which could be interesting.

Republican Nays for Guzman (17-18):
Shelby (AL)**
Tuberville (AL)
Boozman (AR)
Cotton (AR)
Rubio (FL)
Scott (FL)
Crapo (ID)
Risch (ID)
Braun (IN)
Kennedy (LA)
Hawley (MO)
Daines (MT)
Sasse (NE)
Scott (SC)
Blackburn (TN)
Hagerty (TN)
Cruz (TX)
Lee (UT)
**Shelby voted no to invoke cloture, but voted aye for final confirmation.

Not Voting (Guzman & Tai):
Hirono (D-HI)
Lummis (R-WY)
