What if Pence has it?  What if Trump and Pence get sick to a point they won’t be able to carry on with their duties. Who becomes the new GOP nominee??

We have a TL on this forum where Trump died of COVID and Pence ended up in a Coma from COVID.

He won't stay in quarantine and in the next couple of days will be holding a rally. Bet on it.

My hunch is that tonight, Joe Biden won the Presidency of the United States.

Fully agreed. This was one of the "What If?" disasters for his campaign.

Congratulations, Atlas Dems.

On the contrary if he plays this right he can bounce back and win big time. Didn't Boris Johnson's approvals shoot up after he survived? Even if it's a temporary bump it'll be just in time for the big day.

Yep.  Just two days ago the President was making fun of Biden for always wearing a mask.  This is the result of stupidity.  I doubt the people will reward him for it.

This is karma for downplaying the pandemic when he had a chance to make a difference.

I'll believe it when the Electoral College votes in December.

The situation is a bit different. I do sincerely hope this bites Trump in the *ss, but I still think it could backfire. Either way it throws this entire election into an unknown.

Biden must get tested ASAP.

Boris didn't pride himself on being a COVID denying asshat.

This is will be uglier than a hypothetical 1974 where Nixon doesn't leave after Watergate.

Reposting my prediction from July of what would happen if Trump got COVID:

Trump goes to a rally, tells everyone about the glories of herd immunity, and offers to cough on anyone who wants to come up on stage. He then does a reverse-faith-healing and coughs on everyone's face who then immediately go to the cameras to express how excited they are that they are all now immune from the disease and how generous Trump was for saving them from the horrors of COVID.

Now, I don't want to make snide comments about what may be life or death for someone who is in at least two high-risk groups, but it really feels like this is the karmic balance of that s**tshow Tulsa rally, doesn't it?

The question of how this affects the race really depends on just how badly Trump has got it.

And we have no idea, and won't have any idea possibly for a while, this can be very hit-or-miss.

He's in an at-risk age group and has a host of comorbidities.

But the likes of Silvio Berlusconi got it and survived fine.

And Trump will have the best medical monitoring and access to care of anyone in the world.

This is correct. I see no sympathy for him in any social network. It's all observations on how he allowed this to happen due to his negligence.

Don't see how this changes the race much unless obviously Trump dies and Pence replaces him on the ticket. There is not going to be a sympathy boost for this president because this is not a normal president. People will continue voting the way they already intended to. Stop overreacting, guys.

Chances of someone Trump's age dying are what, 10%? He is on the heavy side, but he'll probably get the best treatment of any human on the entire planet.

Seems fairly unlikely that Pence has to be sworn in by January.

4d chess would be lying about being positive to gain sympathy, have a reason for skipping the debates, and when you are "cured" it proves how overblown this virus always has been.

But, in Trump's mind anyone who gets it has failed, no way he would go along with it.

It's gonna be quite the contrary to a sympathy vote, I think. Trump having COVID is a godawful optic for his big, tough, d**k-waving persona, especially after how dismissive he's been and how above-it-all he's tried to be when it comes to the pandemic.

I think Trump will get some sympathy support, it throws the campaign off completely and might be the October surprise that upends the campaign and hurts Biden in the end.
