I don't understand all of these people who think they have a chance at winning the Presidency when they failed at winning lower office in their own states (e.g. Beto O'Rourke, Marianne Williamson, Jason Kander, Andrew Gillum).

Beto is auditioning for VP. I guarantee he will be Harris running mate if she is the nominee.

I haven't heard anyone talk about Kander ever since at least early 2018.

Well he announced a run for Mayor of Kansas City then dropped out after getting diagnosed with PTSD.

I was referring to his seeking higher office in 2018 after losing in 2016. Also, add Richard Ojeda.

Beto's got something planned for Tomorrow and is calling up his 2018 network to prepare for remote action like phonebanking. The announcements tomorrow.

Also, hes on the cover of Vanity Fair April - Can't hurt.

Beto O’rourke is the single most blatant example of a media-created candidate I have ever seen in my time following politics.

What the heck is his claim to fame?

In a matter of like a year he went from an unrecognized nobody in the house to a major national figure despite a failed senate bid.

Beto bears obvious similarities to RFK, but he's also is the kind of sunny, optimistic southern or sunbelt Democrat with boyish good looks you used to see run for president a lot-- Jimmy Carter, Gary Hart, Al Gore, Bill Clinton, John Edwards. He is what Martin O'Malley wanted to be.

Whew! I see the rabid supporters of several candidates are on Twitter pressed and BITTER. Beto-mania is going to be a freaking earthquake tomorrow.

I used to think Rubio held that title, but both Harris and now especially Beto blow Little Marco out of the water.

Don't take this as a argument in favor of any particular candidate but...isn't Trump the biggest Media Candidate of our time? Its well documented that our president and his allies got tons of free media coverage in 2016, much more than anyone else. it was his campaign strategy. The media danced to his outrage tune because fear is more attractive to viewers.

Interesting, seems he broke the news in a very low-key way, unless he was planning on doing something bigger tomorrow. I think he'll make a decent splash early on, but we'll see how long he can keep it up.

I swear weren't you the R-IL avatar that hated Beto in Dec/Jan or was that grassroots?

How can anybody with a brainstem actually think this?

Beto cut 7 points out of Trump's margin in a state where Trump's margins were already pretty small and there wasn't as much room for marginal improvement as there were in other states like GA, NC, OH, etc.

Even if you took an extremely generous view and said Beto would only have uniform swing of 1.5 points over Hillary then he'd not only regain PA/WI/MI but also pick up Florida. Obviously that's a simplistic view of how politics works but if you got into a more complicated analysis there are things that work both for and against him in setting expectations (mostly for).

"Beto is a bad candidate because he couldn't even win in Texas!" is like a stupid-detector.

Just like Hillary was quivering in her shoes at the guy who polled at 8% in March 2015.
