I thought Kamala stans were not going after anybody running but Bernie. The fact that there have been more than a half dozen other white men jump in and none of them were accused of white male entitlement shows that they are threatened and trying to tear this man down for no reason. He has every right to state his case to voters. If someone prefers to vote for a woman or candidate of color that is their absolute right to do so but the lame smears are not going to make his supporters coalesce around your girl.

He literally has no path to the nomination. He just wasted his political capitol on a race he's guaranteed to lose.

This is "Literally" very far from the truth (But I think the poster probably knows it).

Useless candidacy. Some Democrats need to realize that they can't just be president and that it would be better for a lot of these people to do other things rather than continue to crowd the field.

I agree. Joe Biden shouldn't enter the race.

Leaning toward Beto and Amy early on, but still in the undecided camp.

Please tell that to the almost 80-year old man whose chief policy achievements were throwing an entire generation of black men in prison and expanding the death penalty.

Funny thing about this is Biden's primary base will probably be older black voters.

I think she'll make a good first lady as well.

I like Beto. For now I support Kamala, but I'm not totally happy with her, so if Beto lives up to the hype I am totally onboard.

Honestly, Beto's probably my third choice after Sanders and Warren. I like him quite a bit, and if it comes down to him and Harris, I'll vote Beto.

The gender politics around Beto though are worth acknowledging. Any female candidate who left her family to do a solo cross-country trip and write blog posts about it would get crucified. Beto's a strong candidate but he absolutely benefits from some male privilege.

I’m torn on Sanders/Beto. Mostly because I think they would have the best chance of beating Trump but also changing the status quo in the country

Only if by changing the status quo you mean welcoming our own Macron, riots and all

After following the announcement I'm still not sure why Beto, specifically, ought to be the Dem nominee for President. Did I miss something or is he just running "because"?

Jesus Christ.

For one thing, Harris’ qualifications/experience aren’t exactly stellar..

It seems like Harris supporters are actually going more scorched-earth than Sanders supporters, which is a major surprise.

Nah. We can have that conversation. That tweet wasn’t that. Calling him an entitled white male because “He lOsT tO TeD cRuZ” purposely ignoring the fact that he put the fear of God into the Texas GOP and made inroads with the EXACT type of voter we need in 2020 and misrepresenting his quote about being “born to be in it” is gaslighting.

Kamala’s crew was touting that “Vote Blue No Matter Who”  mantra and refusing to take swipes at any non-Bernie candidate until a real threat got into the race. It’s no coincidence she’s running to Houston for a rally next week.

Would love it if it came down to Beto vs Kamala. Two candidates that I feel confident will defeat Trump soundly. Just get Biden and Sanders the hell out of here. Near 80-year olds are not winning in 2020, period.

It's the only way to salvage his career: Cashing out and running for VP.

Given that Harris has no children of her own (she's a stepmom I believe), she wouldn't get that treatment.  Neither would Klobuchar and Warren, whose children are grown.

Beto is a bad candidate but I think the Sanders base is intact & unless Beto gets a big chunk of Biden & Harris voters, I don't think he will be much of a threat. I don't think Sanders' young base will like Wall Street Beto.

Harris, Warren & others should be scared though. Beto raised tons of money & you need money to be competitive. Harris is a Senator while Beto is an unqualified House rep. who has never represented his state. Never has someone so less unqualified been a Presidnet & a member of the Dem party in the last century. So Harris probably should feel bad about Beto stealing her thunder.

I’m far from a socialist, but you have to be completely out of touch if you think education (secondary and higher), the wealth gap, and the environment are perfectly fine as they are now

Beto is not the candidate to fix those things

He is similar to Booker in the way he talks. I do think he more authentic and connects to voters better. A Beto Vs Harris match will be fun to watch. The Charisma gap is,t that big unlike Obama vs Hillary.

Here are my 2020 preferences now that Beto announced:

1. Anthony Weiner / Eric Holder
2. Hillary Clinton
3. Neil Abercrombie
4. Beto
