Karen Bass does not scream "bridge to the next generation"

Young candidate != strongest youth appeal, in case the primaries didn't broadcast that loudly and clearly.  She will be younger than Biden is now in 2028 even if he decides to do two terms.

Bass would be an excellent choice but I have a feeling that leaking her name this late is a red herring.

I'm not saying youth appeal, but someone that Biden picks should be young themselves, or have a 'younger' look. For example, Abrams and Harris look considerably younger than Biden so there is that contrast (besides the fact that they ARE younger), but Karen Bass looks like she represents the Jim Clyburn/Pelosi/Biden/old segment of Congress.

Looking at your track record I think we can safely say it won't be Warren now

my prediction that biden's vp will be karen bass remains unchanged

Joe Biden will pick Karen Bass and you will all pay for your lack of faith.

None of you listened to me, and now look what's happening. Some of you laughed. But, I am vindicated.

Just watch. This doesn't make me less Team Kamala, but I haven't been kidding these past few months about Bass' seriousness as a VP contender.

If Biden's going to pick an African-American woman then he should probably go with Harris.  If nothing else, she would be a far better choice than Karen Bass.  You want someone who could at least theoretically win a general election in 2024 and Bass would get steamrolled by even a slightly weaker than average Republican nominee.  We can do better than Harris, but she's also not going to be guaranteed DOA in a national GE if elected.

Fortunately, this feels like a red-herring filler pick.  If Duckworth's out, then it'll probably be either Harris or Demmings and at least Harris is a do-no-harm pick whom all the major Democratic factions can at least live with even if she's no one's first choice.  And Harris probably wouldn't be DOA in 2024 against any remotely competent Republican nominee whereas not only would Bass likely struggle to win a GE, but she's never even run in a remotely competitive election (primary or GE) since at least her days in the California Assembly (I'm sure there was a competitive primary the first time she ran for Assembly, but that may well have been the only competitive race of her career).

Yeah, Dems can do better than Harris, whom didnt make it to ST, at least Warren has Bernie supporters.  Once Harrie gets scrutiny again,  which she isnt under, her favs will drop. Pence did scrutinize Kaine and Pence did well in a debate with Kaine. Warren is more tougher the Harris debate wise, that's why Warren made it to ST and Harris didn't

Karen Bass wouldn't be a bad pick, but Kamala Harris would be better in terms of winning the election (and if Biden wants a current/former Southern California Congressperson, Hilda Solis would also be a better VP pick.)

If it isn't Kamala, it will Val Demings, and she's obviously the best choice among anyone else. Inspiring life story, could be a bridge in the ongoing police issues, good public speaker and from an important state.

Speaking of Kamala, she had a good moment on the Senate floor today when it came to police reform and Cornyn.

For the love of God, this is politics. It was an appropriate answer.

For the love of God, this is politics. It was an appropriate answer.

"I was being disingenuous at best, lying at worst because politics trumps truth" is not an "appropriate" answer. And that's precisely what "It was a debate" means.

She should have said something indicating that Biden's record should be taken as a whole, and that she was wrong to cherry pick instances and take them out of context, etc.

This was a bad answer, plain and simple.

Sure, I wouldn’t have worded it the way she said it, but it doesn’t represent her skills as a politician as a whole. It sounds like something Warren would’ve said.

She wasn't on my radar before, but Karen Bass seems like a very solid choice.

LOL at the comments of this tweet who say that Harris is worse than Palin.
I'm starting to believe that Harris Derangement Syndrome is a thing.

If we’re going to talk about Harris’s skills, why are we talking about that super short clip and not this one from when she bodied Sen. Cornyn on the Senate floor today?

It’s going viral.

Kamala giving one (1!) milquetoast reply to a question = "she doesn't have what it takes".

It's racism and sexism. It's always been racism and sexism.

Harris is widely perceived as the frontrunner for the vice presidency.  And there's not much time left.  The supporters of other candidates are frantically trying to take her down.

Let's be honest the Republican will attack Warren over the Native Americans thing far more than they would attack Harris prosecutorial record. Republicans and especially not Trump of all people are going to attack Harris on criminal justice from the left.
