From that NYT article:

Quote
Mr. Biden’s campaign has conducted extensive polling and focus groups with voters on a collection of candidates and weighed an array of factors, such as the impact of the pick in battleground states, and whether to choose a Black woman. Aides say the announcement will come the week before the Democratic convention in August.

Quote
Mr. Biden’s campaign is angry about a leak to Politico this week that revealed that former Senator Christopher J. Dodd, one of the leaders of Mr. Biden’s search team, is uneasy with Ms. Harris, believing it will make Mr. Biden’s selection more awkward.

VP preference aside, all of these leaks coming from the Biden campaign are ridiculous. He seriously needs to put a lid on it.

It's all misdirection.  It's been Harris all along.

I hope so because all that sh**t-talk by his pals has kinda boxed him in. If he picks someone else then there will be a deluge of stories about Harris' snubbing.

Bass would be a disaster. Harris appears to be best positioned and most qualified, but don't think he will pick her due to differences.

How much will that really matter if he picks another black woman? Is Jennifer Rubin really gonna write stuff calling him a racist and sexist for picking Karen bass? Give me a break!

It feels like Harris was the favorite and Dodd got desperate and leaked his thoughts. Anyway, all of this is pointless. The VP selection isn’t going to be a major factor electoral wise.

Honestly for the first time in a while, I’m feeling unsure if it will be Harris. It probably will be, but I’m not confident.

I think next week we may see some flattering stories on Duckworth, Val Demings and even Whitmer. This feels like Harris, Bass, Rice have so many problems that eventually Biden will just move on. Put my money on Duckworth.

It also looks just plain bad because all of these guys are white and over 60. Most of the attacks are not even about her record but more about her being disloyal and ambitious. They have been using racially coded terms and it obvious that they are trying to paint her as an Olivia Pope or Sapphire archetype. This whole campaign Dodd, Rendell, and Morgan are doing has pushed a lot of people who on the fence about her into her camp.

We can all agree Bass would be an awful pick right?

She might be worse than Susan Rice. I'm trying figure out might be worse. Her praise of Castro would costly in Florida. She has.walked it back. Still taboo even among Democrats over there.

She didn't just praise Castro, she actually went to Cuba and worked there.
If the first thing you want from a VP is do not harm then Bass is the exact opposite of it. Why unnecessarily complicate your prospects in one of the most important states for a pick with otherwise little obvious upside?

The fact she went there makes the walk back harder.

The thing is, Warren and Harris already received the media scrutiny. Their dirty laundry is all out here. Bass has not received this treatment yet, and I fear this Cuba situation could be a can of worms waiting to be busted open.

The women in single digits are really great buys on PredictIt right now. Duckworth probably the best deal with her little downside.

I don't hate her. I find her quite pleasant, tbh. What I don't like is people who dislike Sen. Harris, throwing out all these different black women (oh not her...) as if they're interchangeable/darts on a board (See the suggestions for Marcia Fudge, Terri Sewell etc).

If self-described socialist Bernie Sanders was beating Trump at the top of the ticket before the pandemic and the return of Black Lives Matter, I don’t think Congressional Black Caucus chair Karen Bass being Joe Biden’s running mate will be this massive disaster the KHive seems to think she (or any non-Harris candidate) will be.

She is definitely worse than Rice, in almost every aspect. She would be like a Palin from the left.
Yes, she would be that bad.

Why are Biden "allies" speaking out publicly on *any* of the contenders right now? It's a terrible look for Biden's campaign, considering Biden's *close* allies have actually been very tight lipped. So it's not really his or his campaign's fault, but they need to get everyone who is even *somewhat* close to Biden to STFU at this point. It's making the situation look like a mess for everyone.

Not to mention, once again, the people that are aiming ire at Harris are all old white men.

this is it:

"One reason Harris has been under fire is that she has long been viewed as a favorite to be Biden's running mate"

It's funny how you don't see any of these planted media stories praising Harris, or about anyone pushing Harris. It's either pushing whoever is the flavor of the week, or another hit piece on Harris. Which makes me think that everyone on the inside knows it's Harris and the people who are speaking are butt hurt about it.

Ed just doesn’t like her because he couldn’t keep as many people locked up as she could.
I kid of course but can we not have any prosecutors running for higher office from now on? They’re all so annoying
