Getting back to Judge again, unless K can exculpate himself with real facts, rather than mere denials, how on earth can this nomination be voted on, or anyone vote to confirm, absent the testimony of Judge? That seems crazy. That is why I am pretty confident that the nomination will be pulled rather than go to a vote, unless the Pubs want to consume another two weeks running Judge down with subpoena to testify, where he might well take the 5th, which seems incredibly risky for them. He has become such a key witness. Actually he has always been a key witness.

It's clear that Dr. Blasey Ford's legal team, and the professor herself, have known this all along.  She has been very clear about this today.  They've really made this apparent and ridiculous.

It seems...

Well I don't know actually. There isn't a winning hand here. The only constant is that Trump withdrawing, or Kavanaugh withdrawing himself, remains the least bad move. But other than those? Who knows.

There’s no way Graham doesn’t have his own scandal waiting.

I think kavanaugh gets yanked. But who knows, McConnell’s been known to put a high profile close vote up to the floor before only to be utterly humiliated.

I think it more likely that the nomination will be yanked, either by Trump or K. Why on earth, unless K testifies in some incredible manner, and exculpatory facts come up, would the Pubs want to vote on this?

I don't think Trump will withdraw it because that would require him to admit he made a mistake and failed, something I doubt he's willing to do.

Trump made a mistake picking somebody as to whom there was absolutely no reason to believe woman would come forward to allege facts as to his horrible and criminal behavior? Trump makes mistakes almost every day of his life, but this was not one of them.

McConnell reportedly warned Trump against Kavanaugh and said he would be the hardest to confirm. Who knows exactly what McConnell knew, but again, having the girls' basketball team as props and getting testimonials about how wonderful he was toward women indicate they had some indication what his weaknesses were.

I have Fox News on, and they seem to also believe that this is not going well for the K cause at all. And another person I am confident is watching Fox News with me is Donald Trump. To Trump Fox News is the Walter Cronkite of "America." As LBJ said, in the context of the Vietnam War, when I lost Walter Cronkite, I lost America.

Off-topic, but Torie, I really encourage you to read Manufacturing Consent by Herman and Chomsky. Particularly the section on Indochina. It will be very eye-opening for you.

The fact that this is plausible is the scariest aspect of this entire episode. I would prefer not to contemplate the kind of demons that it implies lie barely hidden beneath the surface of the DC scene.

This is what really got me, even when Dr. Ford's accusation first came to public light. Trump was warned, but he wanted someone who would defend him if/when issues of impeachment or pardoning come up. Now he is reaping what he sowed.

Clinton and Obama have done far better in vetting judicial nominees than has Dubya, let alone Trump. But this accusation is very convincing.

Seems really irrelevant to me. Her lawyers paid for it, btw.

I love hearing Booker's 2020 male vote evaporate before our ears.
