Say what you want, Kavanaugh's imminent Fox News show's ratings are going to be through the roof.

Co-host with Judge Jeanine!

If these allegations really didn't happen (or he believes they didn't happen, or wants to believe they didn't happen), can you really blame Kavanaugh for being angry?

Yes, you can. Seething rage is not an appropriate response to an allegation

If he is innocent he should be demanding an FBI investigation to clear him of all alleged wrongdoing.

Exactly. If he doesn't have any reason to doubt that Dr. Ford believes her story, then the appropriate response isn't a deranged conspiracy theory about revenge for the Clintons and declaring that everyone shall reap the whirlwind.

How Trump will react is key here.

He looks like he's about to jump out and strangle someone.

So this is that horrific temper everyone has talked about.

Kavanaugh is actually not that bad, in my opinion.

Anger at being smeared/lied about would be very different than what we are seeing here.

This is "attack the integrity of the accuser" stuff. It's all about himself, which is a horrid defense.

The contrast versus Ford's composure is more and more extreme.

Explain the logic underlying that conclusion.

The way some of his own friends have described him as constantly heavily drunk is also not on his calendar. I wonder if the reason why, is because he did it so often like brushing his teeth.

Democrats are each getting time to lift up Dr. Ford as a credible, honest witness.  Republicans are just using their time to give to the prosecutor, who is being fair and going over various facts with Dr. Ford, who is mostly just continuing to establish her credibility.

This is indeed a disaster for Kavanaugh.

Precisely.

I do think the prosecutor is quite skilled, however, this isn't a prosecution and Dr. Ford is extremely credible. So she is doing her job well and making those who doubt Dr. Ford look ridiculous. I'm sure it's rather annoying to have been asked to come in and do this, but it's also not a role one would turn down.

Excellent point. This could have theoretically been her ticket to becoming FrontRunner for the next State Attorney General race. Or possibly governor or at least Congress period at bare minimum Maricopa County DA when that slot opens. That is, again, assuming she had been widely lauded as successful.

As a former longtime prosecutor, and then a defense attorney before that, knowing both sides of the argument really really helps me at trial and in negotiations. Theoretically she should have seen the best tricks of the trade used by the best criminal attorneys in Metro Phoenix, not to mention being sharpened by years of trial work herself. However, that just didn't seem to shine through for her. I remember my first jury trial as a defense attorney in nearly 20 years, after many years of Prosecuting, I felt a little bit like a fish out of water. We had a good result, but it was weird. I suspect Mitchell went through a similar process today.

Can Kavanaugh, Mark Judge and others who knowingly lied on his behalf be charged with perjury if it can proved they are lying?

He seems extremely assertive, and this will certainly appeal to the Republican base. I am somehow doubtful that some of his statements are 100% truthful given previous evidence, however.

That is precisely what he needs/wants, to sound like Trump. Trump is the one that will pull (or not) his nomination, and Trump wants him to be firm and combative in defending himself.

I don't think crying on the bench will endear him to Trump. Quite the opposite.

In light of the 80s movie references, I re-emphasize that I did not write Kavanaugh's opening statement.

You mean like Ford's old friend Leland, the woman who she claimed was there, who said she never met Kavanaugh or ever went to a party with him?

What a despicable, hateful, temperamentally unfit man! No wonder Trump appointed him and is standing by him...

OK I'm sorry but trying to pass off "renate alumni" as showing that she was a friend and like one of the guys?

Really?

That's your excuse? And what you're having a break down over?

Let me bring a dose of reality guys. Dr. Ford was very believable but so is Judge Kavanaugh. Either one of them is a damn good actor or there is more to this story than meets the eye!
