For the record: I did not write Kavanaugh's opening statement.

LOL.

Kavanaugh is throwing a huge wrench into the R plans. He clearly isnt going to "bow out", as he puts it, meaning the only way to get a new judge on the table....is for Trump to rescind Kavanaugh. Not good odds for the GOP confirmation.

What is the explanation for Ford's friend, who she claimed was at the party, saying she never met Kavanaugh and was never at a party with him?

Kavanaugh's testimony is not for the committee or the public. This is for Trump.

Agreed. The only way I can explain this (besides Kavanaugh utterly losing it) is that he's been told his nomination will be withdrawn tomorrow and he needs to throw red meat to the base as a favour.

Sorry for the self-quote, but this is too good:

I think a reference was made by Ford that the friend had medical issues. But it is a very BIG loose end.

If anything, this testimony is making the accusations against him more believable...

The other option is what I prefer: he's used to getting what he wants. He got it from women as a young man and in his life since then, in his career and elsewhere. For once he's being called out on his behavior and he realizes he's not getting what he wants. Like any spoiled child, he's throwing a tantrum. For many rich men, a tantrum will eventually get them what they want. However, here, now, it's just exposing his true nature.

No wonder Trump loved him.

If these allegations really didn't happen (or he believes they didn't happen, or wants to believe they didn't happen), can you really blame Kavanaugh for being angry?

Right. I'm sure he's been coveting a seat on the Supreme Court for most of his career. Now that it looks like he's not going to get it, ever, and his career is going to be destroyed in the process to the point where it seems like it will be difficult for him to carry on as a Circuit Court judge, he's having a breakdown. It's hardly a surprising reaction to someone called to account for the first time in his pampered life.

Anger at being smeared/lied about would be very different than what we are seeing here.

It must be tough for Kavanaugh to have to relive his dad keeping a daily calendar like that.

Yes, you can. Seething rage is not an appropriate response to an allegation

If he is innocent he should be demanding an FBI investigation to clear him of all alleged wrongdoing.

Yup, strange point for the tears to start.
