What's with the questioning about who's gonna pay for the polygraph?

There is a whole line of questioning related to buttressing/supporting the claim that the Dems plotted this out to gain maximum advantage. That has nothing to do with the merits of the charges. And  so far my impression is that at most Ford was a rather passive "tool" in all of this, as opposed to being a political activist who had a strong motive to lie. But maybe there is not much else for Mitchell to spend time on fleshing out the factual record.

So we went from "we were never there" to "it never happened" to  "it wasn't me" to "there was a lot of alcohol involved" to "what I did wasn't that wrong" to "you are only bringing this up because I want to overturn Roe v. Wade". Are we all on the same page?

At this rate, the GOP needs to get Kennedy to revoke his retirement if they want a conservative-leaning Justice on the Court through 2021

At this point I wish he could do that, but his retirement has already gone into effect some time ago. He is no longer a justice and would need to be re-confirmed Tongue

That is true, however unfortunately. Alas, maybe such an option, him rescinding his resignation & showing up to work again on October 1st, wouldn't only be feasible but perhaps actively discussed if he had tendered his resignation pending confirmation of a successor. But he retired on July 31st, full stop. I doubt anybody in June thought it'd matter much. *sigh*

I love hearing Booker's 2020 male vote evaporate before our ears.

Stay on topic RF. I don't want any flame wars to start around you. In fact one started leading to deletions.

Why not delete his post as well, then? It's disgusting.

Harris is so much better then Booker that is isn't even funny. Booker uses his time to make some grandstanding speech. Meanwhile, Harris is out here cutting Mitchell's throat.

People should never put this two in the same sentence ever again.

Because I wanted to use it as a warning, and an example of what to me is off topic. This may be the most tightly moderated thread in the history of Atlas, done in real time. That was the judgement as to the way to proceed that I made after having to deal with the prior thread last night. And despite that, in my opinion, everybody has been able to get their points out, that are on topic.

Graham's behavior is odd to me.

He's so much more aggressive than anyone else.

He just called her "just as much of a victim" as Kavanaugh.

Hypothesis - Graham wants to be Secretary of Defense, and so he wants to appear to Trump that he is standing up the most forcefully of anyone for Trump's nominee. That is what Trump wants, and Graham is trying to suck up to Trump to get the SecDef appointment after the midterms when Trump is likely to fire Mattis.

I didnt think addressing my opinions on Sen. Booker's realtime statements during the hearing were off-topic. I apologize.

Unfortunately, he doesn't have John McCain serving as his conscious (& indeed, the Senate's as well)  anymore

How Ford got to and from the venue came up. Somebody drove her. But she apparently can't recall how she got a ride home, after she escaped the house. Did she call someone? Was the driver at the venue? That needs to be fleshed out more.

Especially with the distance.  I'm less concerned with how she got there.  Ford, according to her account, ran from the house.  How she got home has to have been part of the trauma; she's out at night, running from someone that she though might accidentally kill her, and she doesn't remember what she did.  That is a pretty big gap in memory.

That said, I think something happened to Ford, but not the way she's describing it.

I would have allowed your trashing Booker at the hearing. Others have trashed other Senators. What was off topic, and pushed me over the edge, were the words "Booker's 2020 male vote evaporate ... "  That is one of your memes that irritates many posters, and opened the door to your views about gender, etc. You may not agree with me here (other posters have not agreed with my act here as well), but hopefully you understand better how I approach handling this thread. Thank you for your apology.

I have been wondering for a while if Graham has been having a change in his mental capacity.  He seems very different from just a couple years ago.
