If he doesn't run, then I believe Democrats could do well here if the get the right person to run.

Yes, that was the expectation going into this Sad.

I was kinda holding out hope, but I was gonna say that I had a bad feeling between the low fundraising, visits to the hospital and pressure from younger Rs.

Well guys, we actually have it from the horse's mouth: (with the video of the announcement)

Congressman Coble has the record for the longest serving Republican from NC; 2014 will be 30 years since he was first elected.

Congressman Coble was one of my personal favorite Republicans. I always found him to be genuine, gentlemanly, I liked his pledge against the Congressional pension and he was known emphasized constituent services/outreach.

What pisses me off the most now is that we'll probably be stuck with Baby Berger here.

Coble though, warned Republicans not to take this seat for granted:

Can't Democrats find a McIntyre-type Democrat to win?

They already have a decent candidate in Laura Fjeld, who was a vice president in the UNC system.

Also, Democrats really don't have the downballot strength in this area that they do in the east.

Karl Rove has a busy month ahead of him in NC. He'll be doing three events for Tillis.

Republicans have been worried about Tillis' fundraising. Last quarter, he loaned himself $250K, meaning that only about $550K of his $800K total was from actual donors.

Well, there might have been a lot of merit to this theory after all. Remember those ads Berger was running a few months ago when he thought he might run for Senate?

Baby Berger is liable to jump into the CD6 race any day.

Wow. I guess Brannon really wants to be like Rand Paul, even to the point of mimicking his plagiarism:

Mary will be riding with Obama down to LA in Air Force One tomorrow. Though when Obama is giving a speech in New Orleans (the main reason of the trip for him), Mary will be...in Lake Charles.

I can't really blame her. If the Republicans get a picture of her at an event with Obama, they'll probably exploit it worse than they did with this one of poor Charlie Crist.

This is dumb. Well, I guess I'm glad these guys are more enthusiastic about defeating fellow Republicans than Democrats.

Considering Republicans now consider you insufficiently pure unless you agree to shut down the government indefinitely, can they now be legitimately described as anarchists?

The Daily Caller does a spot on Maness.

Cassidy was a Dem before entering politics, but says he's admitted he was wrong then, unlike Landrieu. Not surprising given his background and generation, as I told Miles a while ago. Nor should it be a BFD.

Not if Maness has anything to say about it:

This piece is a pretty good overview on NC. Its discusses the three main Republicans and looks at some ads being run against Hagan. It also talks about how this race is shaping up early (which I guess is good for the junkies like us!).

Curious to see how NC turns out. Could be a sleeper if Pubs get their act together, since it is definitely competitive on paper.

LA: As Landrieu herself said, you can unelect her if you don't like her voting record.

And with that, we have another Republican in NC. Bill Flynn is a local radio host in Kernersville.

Kernersville is a town in Forsyth county located just outside of CD6, so he could have conceivably ran for the open seat there, and had better chances, but bqhatevwr:

Another week, another Cassidy fail. At an event last week, he was sucking up to AfP for running misleading ads against Landrieu:

I love how he goes out of his way to warn everyone of the 'Obama/Landrieu' tracker, but still ends up with bad headlines out of this.

Coble's hometown paper looks at Republicans who could replace him. Billy Yow, who ran against him in 2012, hasn't ruled anything out. There was already a Republican running before Coble's announcement; High Point financial adviser Don Webb, who us courting the tea party.

I really think the bottom line is that Baby Berger runs. His imminent entry should preclude several others from entering. Ergo, we probably won't have a 10-candidate a clown car situation like we saw on the Republican side in the open NC-09 last cycle.

Two names that the Great Mentioner have churned out have already declined to run: NASCAR driver Kyle Petty and Boehner spokesperson Michael Steel (no, not the bumbling ex-RNC Chair).

Also, I know I've harped on this a ton, but this editorial sums up my sentiments towards Coble pretty well:

Hagan should start running ads now.

It's no coincident that her numbers are dropping now that a number of groups are running ads against her.
