He's doubling down on racism.

This is why Trump could easily win again. In 2016 he came down the escalator and said a bunch of racist crap. Media said it was disqualifying, beltway said his campaign was in shambles, polling said he would lose.

 Trump is gonna run on statues being heritage, our military bases being named after "great generals", and America is not racist and there's nothing wrong with it, it's just the media stirring things up. It's all the crap that not only his base wants to hear but the majority of white people. It's hard to tackle racial inequality, instead Trump is giving white America a pat on the head saying you're all good boys and girls and everything is alright with the world.

 I knew he would do this but I had no idea how soon or moronic it would be.

It always seemed suspect to me even going back to the Tea Party protests in 2009-2010, but the one enlightening thing about the Trump years has been the confirmation that modern conservatism has little or nothing to do with actual policy - especially economic policy - and is predominantly built around offending various groups that are viewed as insufficiently American. And this is why Trump manages to have a 90%+ approval among Republicans: hardly anyone in the party actually cares if Trump governs effectively or keeps his promises on passing legislation.

Here Trump freely admits that he has apparently suspended separation of powers and due process in the U.S., promising that any monument vandalizer will be arrested for "up to ten years" irrespective what individual courts will decide on the matter.
