Arizona State defeats UCLA in triple overtime 87-84.

I tried to follow that game on my phone but it went so late I finally had to give up at the end of the first OT. Wink

Yeah, I cashed out before the end too.  ASU seems like they've been up in every game  this year only to have it get away from them, but they finally got one.

Was Arizona State’s biggest heartbreaker loss the game against UC Riverside?

San Diego State and Boise State won’t join the American. If at least one eventually leaves the Mountain West, what conference will most likely be the one to join?

Pacific winning away against USC tomorrow night is more likely than US democracy surviving SCOTUS. Guess what the Pacific @ USC will be like (as if I didn’t already know)?

Southern Indiana (where Bruce Pearl once coached) plans to move to Division I.  Possible conferences mentioned are the OVC, Horizon League, and Atlantic Sun.

It's fairly old news that those two won't join the AAC.  There have been some mild rumors that the Big 12 isn't done expanding and may have plans to add Boise State and Memphis within the next few years.  I'm sure San Diego State would love to join the Pac-12, but that idea seems very far-fetched.

Terrific game with a fantastic finish in Virginia-Duke!  The Cavaliers hit a three (only their second of the game) with 1 second left to win 69-68 at Durham.

Illinois ran away from Indiana in the second half, winning 74-57 at Indiana after trailing by two at halftime.  Very surprising result (not that Illinois won, but by that kind of margin).

I happened to be at a brewery in Indianapolis for this ... it was truly beautiful.

Drexel beat James Madison 72-66 after trailing at halftime 28-16.  So the Dragons scored 40 more points in the second half than they did in the first, which can't be something that's happened very often.

Is Washington State overrated in the Pac 12? Wazzu lost at home to three mid-majors (Eastern Washington, South Dakota State, and New Mexico State).

Incredibly bad luck to lose a lot of close games. Boise State is also a fourth mid-major technically, but exceedingly likely to get a bid (alongside auto-bid favorites NMSU and SDSU). Their worst loss is by six points! And they held the lead for most of the game. Same could be said for three other losses.

They are a top 30 team with the 101st best resume in the country due to some of the worst luck ever seen. Can't finish games (same can be said for Duke and Villanova but that's mostly against elite teams/harder schedule).

If anything they are underrated because people care far more about H2H and resume rather than Margin of Victory and Efficiency

I don’t consider Boise State and San Diego State mid-majors. Boise State and San Diego State deserve an invitation to the Pac 12 or Big 12.

This is a somewhat valid opinion for San Diego State (though still admittedly a stretch - it's not exactly Gonzaga despite modest success), but any Boise State invite would be based solely on football. Its basketball program has been an 'average' mid-major program at best for no more than a decade. Two times it was gifted one of the last bids in the expanded tournament that didn't previously exist, and it failed to win the opening round game to get into the final field. In fact, the school has never once won an NCAA Tournament game in its seven chances. It only really had a chance in its last two against La Salle and Dayton, and it couldn't even beat those certain mid-majors.

Not even Northwestern would fail to meet such a low standard.

San Diego State still isn’t what I call a mid-major. Gonzaga is also no mid-major. The Pac 12 or Big 12 should invite them.

#1 Auburn has been living on the edge lately with narrow escapes at Missouri and Georgia, but their luck finally ran out, losing 80-76 in OT at Arkansas.
