Maybe the POD is early enough that Maine staying in Massachusetts was somehow the only real effect until the 1860s.

Here's a list of alternate presidents, according to my alternate maps.  The point of divergence is in March of 1981, when Ronald Reagan dies in a successful assassination attempt (acting president/VP: George HW Bush/Senator Howard Baker)

George HW Bush, R-TX (March 1981-1988)
Dick Gephardt, D-MO (1988-1996)
Bruce Babbitt, D-AZ (1996-?) (haven't gotten around to doing the 2000 race yet)

And alternate VPs:

Howard Baker, R-TN (March 1981-1988)
Bruce Babbitt, D-AZ (1988-1996)
Bob Kerrey, D-NE (1996-?)

Ittl we have six-year terms from 1964, and a French-y two-round system.

Presidents of the United States

32. Franklin D. Roosevelt (Old Democratic Party–New York) 1933-1947Died
  • 1944: Franklin Roosevelt (ODP) defeats Thomas E. Dewey (Republican)

33. Henry A. Wallace (Old Democratic Party, then Freedom Democratic Party–Iowa) 1947-1953
  • 1948: Henry Wallace (FDP)[1] defeats Thomas E. Dewey (R), James F. Byrnes (ODP)[1]

34. Earl Warren (Republican Party-California) 1953-1971
  • 1952: Earl Warren (R) defeats Henry Wallace (FDP), Richard Russell (ODP)
  • 1956: Earl Warren (R) defeats Lyndon B. Johnson (ODP), Claude Pepper (FDP)
  • 1960: Earl Warren (R) defeats Lyndon B. Johnson (ODP), Hubert Humphrey (FDP)
  • 1964:[2] Earl Warren (R) defeats George Wallace (ODP), Eugene McCarthy (FDP)

35. Nelson Rockefeller (Republican Party–New York) 1971-1977
  • 1970: Nelson Rockefeller (R) defeats George McGovern (FDP), Wilbur Mills (ODP)

36. Jimmy Carter (New Democratic Party–Georgia) 1977-1983
  • 1976: Jimmy Carter (NDP)[3] defeats Gerald R. Ford (R), George McGovern (Workers Party)[3]

37. George H. W. Bush (Republican Party–Texas) 1983-1995
  • 1982: George H. W. Bush (R) defeats Jimmy Carter (NDP), Ted Kennedy (Independent), Jesse Jackson (W)
  • 1988: George H. W. Bush (R) defeats Michael Dukakis (NDP), Jesse Jackson (W)

38. Bill Clinton (New Democratic Party–Arkansas) 1995-2007
  • 1994: Bill Clinton (NDP) defeats Bob Dole (R), Pat Buchanan (America First!)[4], Ross Perot (Independent)
  • 2000: Bill Clinton (NDP) defeats Donald Trump (Independent), John McCain (R), Ralph Nader (W)

39. John S. McCain (Republicans, then Independent) 2007-2013
  • 2006: John McCain (R) defeats Al Gore (NDP), Arnold Schwarzenegger (Independent), Newt Gingrich (America First!)

40. Barack Obama (Organizing for Action, then Hope Party) 2013-present
  • 2012: Barack Obama (OFA)[5] defeats Mitch Daniels (R), Russ Feingold (WFP), Hillary Clinton (NDP), Mike Huckabee (America First!)
  • 2018: Barack Obama (H)[6] defeats Donald Trump (America First!), John Kasich (Independent), Ted Cruz (R)

1. Democratic Party splits between factions loyal to Pres. Henry Wallace and Sen. James F. Byrns

2. In 1962 the Constitution was amended to give the President a six-year term and to elect the President via a two-round popular vote runoff.

3. Jimmy Carter reunites the two factions of the Democrats into the New Democrats. Some dissatisfied left-wing activists begin the Workers Party.

4. Conservative activist Pat Buchanan splits from the Republicans and founds the nationalist America First! movement

5. This is basically just En Marche! ok

6. OFA merges with other left-wing parties, notably the New Democrats and the Working Families Party, to found the Hope Party. Meanwhile, the Republican Party fractures.
