I think it's safe to say a pissed off Alabama team is pretty much unstoppable.

The Crimson Tide are dominating Mississippi State 24-0 as halftime approaches.

Syracuse is prohibited from playing in the Orange Bowl due to the unfair advantage they would have over their opponents given that their mascot is an anthropomorphic orange. This is why their last appearance was in 1959 before they adopted Otto.

That's an actual thing?

That seems like one of the most ridiculous bowl requirements in College Football, and I would hope it's dealt with quickly, given how well Syracuse is doing this year.

The Big Twelve is absurd right now.

#17 Kansas State leads #8 TCU 28-10 with about six minutes to play in the first half.

So, Weber St. Was undefeated coming into their big matchup with Montana St.  Probably would still be undefeated but their long snapper got the yips which resulted in a record 4 safeties.  Weber lost 43-38

WEEK 8 RESULTS

There's another first-time winner this week as ultraviolet finished at 19-6, a game ahead of Grumps and Harry.  Full results:

19 ultraviolet
18 Grumps, Harry
16 Donerail, Terry
15 Dereich, GeorgiaModerate, Illiniwek
14 ExtremeR, Thomas D
13 CalamityBlue, JGibson, NY Express
12 Ishan

There were two unanimous picks (Clemson over Syracuse and TCU over Kansas State) and both were correct.  There were three games with a single dissenter:

Ball State-Eastern Michigan (dissenter was right)
Tulane-Memphis
Wyoming-Utah State

The overall standings are getting very tight at the top.  I'm still in the lead, but Dereich, Harry, and Illiniwek are just a game back with Terry a game behind them.  Year to date (200 games):

133 GeorgiaModerate
132 Dereich, Harry, Illiniwek
131 Terry
125 ExtremeRepublican
123 Donerail
119 Grumps
117 CalamityBlue
116 NY Express
112 JGibson
90 ultraviolet
86 Thomas D
35 Storr
23 Ishan

My ballot for this week based on first time resume review, trying to account for injuries and closeness of games more than overall record:

1. Ohio State
2. Georgia
3. Alabama
4. Tennessee
5. Michigan

6. TCU
7. Oklahoma State
8. Clemson
9. Wake Forest
10. LSU

11. Texas
12. Oregon
13. Syracuse
14. Ole Miss
15. Kentucky

16. USC
17. Utah
18. Penn State
19. Illinois
20. Kansas State

21. UCLA
22. UNC
23. NC State
24. Tulane
25. Maryland (also considered Liberty and Oregon State)

Not too dissimilar from the AP though I don't think they will jolt LSU up nearly that much. And I find the Cincinnati ranking tough to defend with the last two narrow wins and the loss to very mediocre Arkansas. Maryland has to be ahead of them.

South Carolina will probably get more AP love than Maryland or Oregon State (not sure about Liberty), but I am not buying it. Kentucky without Levis was clearly a different team, so they will need to beat Florida to prove growth from the Arkansas game.

After a couple of weeks without a coach being fired, we have another one. Charlotte has fired head coach Will Healey.

I'm having trouble thinking of who might be interested in a job that is going to get exponentially harder with Charlotte's move from Conference USA to the AAC.

My best guess (and only guess) as to who will be the next head coach of the 49er's:

Jackson State Head Coach Deion Sanders

If Deion leaves Jackson State, it will be for a P5 job, not Charlotte.

Think the Charlotte people want Rhule – wouldn't have to move, and splashy enough as a hire to mark their move to the AAC. Could also be a nice landing spot for Neal Brown when he finally gets canned.

Wow.

College GameDay is headed to Southern @ Jackson State. They don't usually go to FCS games, and I don't they ever gone to a SWAC game, so it must be Deion Sanders's star power making this happen. Wonder if he'll be the guest picker for the week (they've had one of the coaches of the teams playing in GameDay game be the guest picker before, so it wouldn't be too shocking).

Next week literally HAS to be Tennessee/Georgia for the GameDay game. I mean, I guess they could go with Alabama/LSU, Kansas State/Texas or Wake Forest/NC Stae if Tennessee/Georgia isn't available, but going to Athens is the obvious choice, given it'll be a top-three divisional matchup, that could decide which SEC East team makes the playoff, and which one goes to the Sugar Bowl (assuming the Committee doesn't choose to put a one loss Tennessee in over another one-loss conference Champion, like Oregon.)

Rhule definitely can get a better job than Charlotte. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Nebraska at a minimum (and Auburn if they ever do get around to firing Harsin) have already scheduled interviews with him.

(1) They go to an FCS game almost every year (2) They literally went to the MEAC/SWAC game last year

Utah

BYU

TCU (Is this the week Neal Brown gets fired?)
Ohio State (Penn State is good, but the Buckeyes are on another level entirely)
Syracuse
Arkansas (Is this the week Brian Harsin gets fired?)
Oklahoma
Virginia (Got to start wondering about Mario Cristobal's job security heading into next season. This year has not gone well for Miami)
Old Dominion
Georgia
Oklahoma State
Wake Forest
Illinois (Will Illinois make the Big Ten Title game?)
Cincinnati (With Coastal Carolina's loss two weeks ago, the Bearcats are the overwhelming favorites to make it back to the New Year's Six)
UMass
Tulsa
South Carolina (South Carolina has low key been one of the best stories in the SEC this season. I can't see them picking up wins in their final two games- vs Tennessee, @ Clemson, but 8-4 is very realistic for the Gamecocks.)
Tennessee (if Tennessee can beat Alabama, they can beat anyone in the SEC. Assuming next week's Tennessee/Georgia game is on the pick'em (I can't see why it wouldn't be), I want it down on the record that I will be picking Tennessee in that game.)
Coastal Carolina
UAB
Michigan (This one looked a lot more promising at the start of the season.)
Ole Miss
Texas Tech
North Carolina
Fresno State

Realistically Michigan vs. MSU was never promising. The only people who thought it'd be close were casuals who overrated Mel Tucker. 8-4 was our peak this season. I think the Spartan Dawgs keep it close though.

#17 Illinois @ Nebraska 3:30 PM EDT ABC Don't get me wrong, I think this is the sneaky trickiest game left on the schedule. I have no idea what to think of Nebraska at this point. But if Illinois is prepared, and after a bye week they should be, there is no reason they can't do to Nebraska what they did to Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota.

Clemson fans actually stormed the field beating Syracuse as double digit favorites.

Clemson storms the field for every home game.  It's a school tradition, not news.
