I will not be watching the rematch. It is not entertaining to watch two teams I don't like play yet another game which one team has consistently lost in numerous embarrassing ways.

I'm not counting on anything yet.  I've been a Georgia fan too long to relax until the final gun sounds.

One thing that people are forgetting is that it's pretty rare for a conference to send its 11th, 12th, 13th best team to bowl games. It's easy to imagine a world where South Carolina, Missouri, and Florida don't qualify for a bowl, the SEC's record is not bad at all. Would Georgia Tech, Syracuse, and Florida State have done any better? What about Colorado, Stanford, and Washington?

NYE was eliminated from the pick'em by Georgia's win, so it's down to Donerail and me.  He leads by two games, and we have different picks in three bowls today:

Outback: He picked Penn State, I picked Arkansas.
Citrus: He picked Kentucky, I picked Iowa.
Sugar: He picked Ole Miss, I picked Baylor.

If Donerail gets at least two of these right, he locks up first place.  If I get exactly two of three, then he clinches at least a tie for first and the CFP championship game will decide the outcome.  If I get all three, the reverse is true: I'll clinch at least a tie and the championship game will decide.

Terrible to see Alabama win, but glad to see the Pedos and Faux Irish go down in the same day! Now the Buckeyes just need to take care of business.

Baylor leads 7-0 in the Sugar Bowl with the fate of our pick'em on the line.

Really disappointing to see Michigan crumble in the spotlight. I didn't necessarily expect them to win, but to not put up any fight was a bit of a surprise. But credit to Georgia. Not only were they (of course) way more talented, but the coaches were genius in their gameplan. They gave Hutchinson and Ojabo ZERO opportunity to make a big play in the pass rush. They made safe passes to the outside and executed a power running game and its all they needed to do.

Still a successful season. One to look back fondly on. But its a tough pill to swallow that after getting this close, its hard to imagine ever getting any closer. Maybe if they could recruit a top of the class QB, they could compete with the big dogs. But outside of that, aspiring to beating OSU and winning a Big Ten Championship is pretty much the ceiling.

I know Jim Harbaugh had a fantastic season, but with another coach (maybe a Brian Kelly or Lincoln Riley) could Michigan have done better? Like, if Michigan had fired Harbaugh after last season, and attempted to hire Kelly, Riley, Mario Cristobal, or a high-profile coordinator like Brett Venables, Dan Lanning or Tony Elliot, could they have not only gotten to the playoff, but won their semifinal game against any of Alabama, Georgia or Cincinnati?

The second scenario came true (I got two out of three, the Outback and Sugar) which means that Donerail has clinched at least a tie, but I can catch him in the championship game.  So obviously I will pick whoever he doesn't.

No matter how it turns out in the end, I made a pretty amazing comeback in the post-Christmas bowls.  Going in I was in fourth place, six off the lead, but made up five games.

POST-CHRISTMAS BOWL RESULTS

Five of the 26 games were scratched (either canceled or changed teams).  I rocked it with 16-5, three games ahead of JGibson and Terry.  Full results:

16 GeorgiaModerate
13 JGibson, Terry
12 Illiniwek
11 Dereich, Donerail
10 NYE

There were six unanimous picks:

Oklahoma-Oregon
North Carolina-South Carolina (wrong)
Tennessee-Purdue (wrong)
Wisconsin-Arizona State
Wake Forest-Rutgers
Notre Dame-Oklahoma State (wrong)

And six games with a single dissenter:

Mississippi State-Texas Tech (dissenter was right)
Minnesota-West Virginia
Clemson-Iowa State
Alabama-Cincinnati
Ohio State-Utah
Kansas State-LSU

As we've previously talked about, Donerail has clinched at least a tie for the season, but I closed to within a game and could catch him depending on the result of the championship game.  Year to date (372 games):

233 Donerail
232 GeorgiaModerate
228 Dereich, NYE
225 Terry
208 Illiniwek
205 JGibson
201 ExtremeRepublican
92 Dingo Joe
24 Orwell

I've recorded the following picks for the championship game:

Georgia: Donerail, Terry
Alabama: Dereich, NYE, me (hopefully wrong)

Will watch for Katy Perry video at halftime I guess. Blech

Whenever I say never bet against bama, I just have to remember how bad they were against Auburn, Florida, and to an extent LSU. I think the SEC championship was a fluke, UGA has this

I agree.

It was worse than a fluke - it was rigged.

You mean so that they’d both get in for a potential rematch?

He thinks the SEC ordered Georgia to tank to ensure there would be two SEC teams in the playoff.

(The above belief is not shared by the author of this post.)
