My guess as to what the committee will do for the final playoff rankings:

1. Cincinnati (as the only unbeaten left, with the win over Notre Dame, Cincinnati will move up again. The question is whether they get #2 seed or the #1 seed.)

2. Michigan (The loss to Michigan State keeps Michigan from getting the 1 seed)

3. Georgia (Georgia has looked better all season than Alabama has, and ranks higher based on the season long eye test)

4. Alabama (Alabama finishes behind Georgia based on looking worse then Georgia in their wins, and because of their loss to Texas A&M)

It will almost certainly be Alabama at #1 and Cincinnati at #4. Georgia vs. Michigan could go either way, but they'll probably give Michigan #2.

Yep, Cincinnati will get sent to Alabama and lose by about 35.

I agree that Cincy will play Bama and get clobbered, but note that the game won't be at Alabama.  The playoff semifinals use existing bowls on a rotating basis; this year it's the Cotton and Orange.

Alabama couldn't even blow out some very mediocre teams.

Yeah, if anyone thinks yesterday was anything but "get illiterate Bryce a Heisman even though Pickett clearly deserves it more" and "help the SEC get two CFP teams" they are idiots and don't know anything about football. Alabama is absolutely not that good of a team.

Yeah, but they'll turn it on in the playoffs and beat Cincinnati handily and Georgia again about like they did yesterday.

Not surprised UGA's #3, committee already set precedent of seeding 11-1 nonconference champ OSU over undefeated Washington in the final '16 CFP rankings.

Cincinnati barely beat trash in two games too. They’re going to be rolled. Second game is a tossup, but Alabama likely wins handidly against either in the championship.

It's a prediction, not a guarantee or attack. As an SEC fan, I would love for Cincinnati to beat Alabama and Georgia on their way to the National Championship.

If you really think Alabama is going to win by 35, you should put your money where your mouth is. Alabama is only favored by 14 right now, and you could make a huge profit.

Congratulations to Cincinnati on being the first G5 school to make the playoffs(although they're jumping to the P5 soon). The Big 12 will have an amazing football program under their name in the coming years.

Please refrain from making head coaching vacancy predictions if you're only going to name other head coaches at P5 programs who probably aren't going to leave.

I mean, it looks like the new HC at Temple is going to be Stan Drayton, the RB Coach at Texas. But if you had made a prediction, it would have been like:

Rod Carey has been fired. My guesses for the next head coach at Temple:

Rutgers Head Coach Greg Schiano

Penn State Head Coach James Franklin (long shot but possible)

Pittsburgh Head Coach Pat Narduzzi (ditto)

Army Head Coach Jeff Monken

Syracuse Head Coach Dino Babers

The name that makes sense is Justin Wilcox, who’s an alum and a West Coast guy, or maybe Jay Norvell at Nevada. After Kelly, Taggart and Cristobal used the job as a springboard, I think Oregon brass want someone who’s not likely to try to leave. If you’re taking a swing at a hot head coach, maybe Aranda?

Oregon's not going to hire a guy who's 26-28 (15-25) in his current Pac-12 job, at least not without striking out with a lot of other names first.

If I had to predict, I'd say Andy Avalos of Boise State, who was DC at Oregon from 2019-20. I'm sure they'd give the job to Chip Kelly if he wants it, but does he want to leave UCLA after finally having a good year to go back there?

Yeah it'd be crazy for Oregon to hire a guy with a losing record as a head coach, especially someone who went 27-47 in a Sun Belt job...

I probably would have thrown in Dan Mullen and Manny Diaz (given he's about to be fired at Miami) instead.

Manny may do the ol' Miami Shuffle and head to FIU, who's currently in need of a head coach. Or he could just relax with his $8 million buyout.

The circumstances of that hire were weird though. They were the last good job to get go the carousel because no one thought Taggart was leaving, all the hot prospects were at different jobs, and they had to salvage a recruiting class. I don’t think they hire Cristobal if it’s a more normal search.

That being said, the same thing’s happened again this time so I could see them going Wilcox, but imo that’s an uninspired hire. Ik Cal is Cal, but it’s been five years and he still hasn’t even gotten a winning record in-conference. Chip might be a possibility since he’s on thin ice with the fans at UCLA but considering how lazy he is about recruiting into SoCal, idk if he’d want to go back to somewhere it’s harder.

Virginia deep in negotiations to hire Clemson Offensive Coordinator Tony Elliot to be their new Head Coach.

Quote
Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott has emerged as the top candidate for the Virginia Cavaliers' head-coaching job, and a deal could be finalized as early as Wednesday, sources told ESPN.

Elliott and his family flew to Charlottesville, Virginia, on Wednesday to meet with UVa officials. He also met earlier this week with Duke officials about the Blue Devils' head-coaching job. A full-time member of Dabo Swinney's staff since 2011, Elliott was the Tigers' co-offensive coordinator on their 2016 and 2018 national championship teams. He was named the Broyles Award winner in 2017 as the country's top assistant coach.

Tough break for Dabo Swinney if this happens, as he will have lost both his coordinators in one offseason.

Florida International made a pretty good hire for their open head coach position, hiring Memphis Defensive Coordinator and former Colorado Head Coach Mike MacIntyre.
