I see dc_troll got PiT to vote for Mint since if he didn't she wouldn't be his friend anymore! Roll Eyes

First, don't insult my friends. Angry

Second, Mint coming in first would be a huge moral victory, if you look at which Senator's seat he'd be taking.

Yes, thats true, he is taking Marokai's seat. How ironic. Who's is Duke taking, Franzl's, or Rowan's.

I think he'll probably be taking Franzl's seat, which means badger would take Rowan's seat.

I have been fascinated by the way the STV seat allocation works for some time. I still don't care much for the At-large seats as a whole though. Just found that tidbit about them slightly interesting.

I've been deeply interested in the partisan breakdown of the Senate ever since the Senate History page was updated to include it. Grin

I think so. He hasn't tried post it yet and so far 9 mods have voted permaban. Eventually Dave will get tired with him and ban him. Will be a glorious day.

Lol, Hamilton is attacking me through AIM. lol

I actually think he might have been banned. Dave hasn't said anything but Hamilton also hasn't posted today and thus is behind by about 200 posts.

We can only pray that is the case.

We can only pray!

So because you people disagree with someone, it would be a "glorious day" to see them banned from an internet forum?

Its much more than that, trust me. I disagree with Marokai much more then Hamilton, but do you see me calling for his head? I actually agree with Hamilton on a lot of stuff. It has nothing to do with disagreeing.

Ahem.  The way I see it, Badger is taking Marokai's seat, Duke is taking Rowan's seat, and Mint is taking Franzl's seat.

Is there some rhyme or reason, or method behind the madness to this?

Yes, ideology.  Although Franzl and Mint aren't really a match, they are the ones left over after the other two pairs are appropriatelly matched.

Yes, since STV is proportionate, it's best to consider votes as party votes instead of personal votes - most people voting for one RPP candidate, for example, will gladly vote for the other (with some noteable exceptions), likewise for the JCP, DA, ARC, LNF, etc.

Consequently, don't consider a particular Senator as taking over another Senator's seat, see it in terms of how many Senators each party has managed to have elected.

Its wonderful that the post in question ended up deleted and not edited for content so that we can all sit around here and debate who was right and who was wrong, because clearly this is the most productive use of our collective time.

Total Votes: 43
Last voter: feeblepizza
Seats: 3
Quota: 11

Count 1
Shua17
Snowguy 8
Oakvale 5
True Federalist  4(18 #2 preferences)
WisconsinGurl 4(12 #2 preferences)
Agooji 4(  0 #2 preferences)
Sewer 2
20RP12 0

Appalling vote management by the Populares is costing them any chance of picking up a second seat.

True Federalist and WisconsinGurl getting lots of high preferences, but not enough crucial #1s.
JCP benefitting from that vote split, with Snowguy en route to election and Oakvale very competitive.

As it stands, Snowguy passes the quota and gets elected on Count 6, and True Federalist would get the final seat (by a little over 1 vote) ahead of Oakvale without reaching the quota.

It’s really close between True Fed, Oakvale and TexasGurl for that last seat though; and Snowguy’s seat isn’t itself absolutely safe. Yet.

I must be doing the transfers wrong somewhere.  As of feeblepizza's vote, I have both Snowguy and myself going over the quota on Count 6, tho he does so by more than me  (12.706 for him. 11.235 for myself).

On the other hand, excellent vote management by the RPP suggests that the top two candidates of the bulk of the party will likely make it in. Grin

Given the remaining voters it's likely the final seats will be between Teddy, Oakvale, TF and yourself.

There should be at least one UDL seat there, but that might depend on order of elimination. TF transfers to you fairly well; but your voters don't do likewise - preferring JCP candidates to TF by 6-2.

Senate Mid-Term Election Tracker

Votes Cast: 69
Last Voter: Holmes
Current Quota: 12

Duke15(PiT, Ben, AndrewCT, HappyWarrior, dead0man, bigbadfab, cinyc, Sanchez, The Economist, Swedish Cheese, Inks, Brandon H, Junkie, Winfield, gporter)
Antonio11(homelycooking, Marokai, TexasGurl, Yelnoc, Polnut, Antonio, Hans-im-Gluck, Fuzzleton, belgiansocialist, JulioMadrid, hawkeye59)
shua11(20RP12, wormyguy, redcommander, RosettaStoned, feeblepizza, Mechaman, Giovanni, Jbrase, taft4prz, shua, Dallasfan65)
Snowguy9(Kalwejt, Ebowed, Gramps, Bacon King, Snowguy, Tender Branson, John Dibble, px75, nclib)
Oakvale8(Oakvale, Napoleon, Alcon, Eraserhead, bullmoose, opebo, realisticidealist, Holmes)
True Federalist6(ThomasD, ilikeverin, Frodo, Lewis, sbane, Jas)

sewer2(sewer, Fritz)
cinyc1(Smid)
officepark1(officepark)
gporter0
Sanchez0
Smid0
NOTA1(Sam Spade)

On current votes, Duke is elected on Count 1.
shua on Count 4.
Snowguy, Antonio and True Fed on Count 5.
Oakvale being the last candidate standing not elected, surpassed by TF on Teddy's elimination.

Teddy's campaign seems to be falling behind - there are though more than enough RPP voters remaining to put him back in contention. Oakvale and Teddy's failure to attract any votes from outside their parties isn't helping.

Still fairly close though. Duke seems to be safe, but the other 4 seats are still there for the taking between the remaining 6 candidates.

Not a big deal, but by my count there should be 19 RPPers left to vote, not 20. You seem to have missed Taft4Prez's vote.

Congrats to Duke, shua, Snowguy, Antonio and Oakvale.

Tough beat True Fed, there's no beating the JCP machine. Only a fraction of a vote short again it looks like.
