Unless firewall means something other than what I thought it did. Which is possible.

I meant it as basically something to stem the tide of the Obama momentum generated from his almost certain wins on the 9th and 12th.

CNN hasn't said a word on TV...It's on their website only

They don't even have a story about it on their website, just the results on their election page. It's pathetically obvious that they're trying to cover it up; they even had a big "Breaking" banner for Romney winning Wyoming and Maine, and those were a lot less meaningful than a contest where both candidates actually campaigned seriously.

Methinks this is looking like another Obama victory

Lets not jinx anything... dont know why i'm so obsessed with things being "jinxed" but still Smiley.

I'm being careful with that too. I'm kind of superstitious.

Considering that Maine has an even number of delegates, there will definitely not be a net of 5.

They're relatively poor, blue collar, and "traditionalist". Clinton pretty much always wins "ethnic" whites, see Irish and Italians. Luckily Scandinavians are the exception. Smiley

I believe it's more correlation than causation, much the same reason why Catholics prefer Clinton.

+4 or +6.  If the current numbers hold he takes the statewide vote 5-3.  If the results are simialr in each CD he takes the 1st 5-4, and the 2nd 4-3 for a 14-10 delegate split.  However, the 1st district is likely his stronger district and if he garners 61-62% of the vote there he wins the delagte count 6-3 for a 15-9 split for the state.

With these numbers Obama likely won even CD-2.

C'mon, Clinton, get under 40% of the vote, you can do it. Wink

Any idea where those results are, so that we can call the delegates?

It's just a guess really, but a narrow Clinton victory in CD-2 would mean a 2:1 Obama victory in CD-1 and it can't be THAT regionally polarized.

CNN's currently projecting 15 delegates for Obama and 9 for Clinton.

Maine Democrats currently project:

At-large: Obama 3, Clinton 2
Party pledged: Obama 2, Clinton 1
CD-1: Obama 6, Clinton 3
CD-2: Obama 4, Clinton 3

Total: Obama 15, Clinton 9

Wow, better than I thought, I wasn't expecting a 6-3 split in CD 1.

I know what you mean and I agree with you. Al was being a tad pedantic. It was 'breathing' space rather than a wall due to bad press that is likely to, if it hasn't already been generated about the structure and finances inside her campaign. Any 'wobbling' in her campaign then her team and strategy could destruct from within. That's bad, but combined with small bust significant Obama wins is damaging.

Her team spinning that she 'didn't have a chance' in Maine is a sign of desperation.

It is odd. CD 1 gets 9 delegates, and CD 2 gets 7 delegates, so if there is a substantial differential in the relative percentages of the two candidates in delegate votes  won, that could affect one convention delegate. I assume Barack is stronger in CD 1. Is that the case? Oh, I see above that it is.

Not really unexpected with him getting 58% of the state vote.  In order to get a 6-3 split he would need to get just over 61.1% of the state delegates in the district (and thats if no one went uncommitted)   With a handful of uncommitted its more along the lines of 60.7% or so that he would have needed to get the 6-3 split.

Feb. 2 Republicans 68% in
Feb. 10 Democrats 79% in

Maine Republicans suck.

Boy, CNN must really be feeling the pain of having to project Obama the winner in Maine.  Much more pain come Tuesday night.  Texas and Ohio can't get here fast enough for our friends at CNN.
