The thing is, Israel's PR being bad during wartime isn't actually new. Its almost as if they adopt a "no one likes us, we don't care" mentality - the Millwall FC of the Middle East? Wink

I’m not sure that’s really the situation. There’s a lot of energy and public attention at the global PR issue. I feel like a major factor is some incommensurabillity in perspectives. Western public pretty much forgot what it’s like to wage war on home soil, and Israeli speakers don’t really get the language of humanitarian concerns they feel is aloof and hypocritical. There’s also the issue of Muslim migration which turns most Israeli-Palestine discussions into a projection of internal right-left relations so arguments to the point completely fail.

As to the Millwall, the saying in N17 back in olden times was “Millwall are all mouth”.

Girl gets named and shamed for giving the Nazi salute at a Jewish Rally in Beverley Hills.

Then she was pressured to give a public apology, presumably made by her brother.

In Australia (Victoria), the Nazi Salute is illegal now.

A lot of Hamas supporters openly say that Hitler was right about the Jews and what he did with them. I have seen numerous such videos on Twitter from the London mass protest of antisemites.

The war has pretty much been successful at getting Iran to decouple from Hamas. Notwithstanding the predictions of AAPI on earlier pages, it's become clear that neither Iran nor Hezbollah is going to get into this war, and that is in spite of Israel apparently behaving pretty belligerently on the Lebanese border, with a high number of Hezbollah casualties -- which reinforces the idea that Hezbollah is a paper tiger (which it pretty clearly has been since losing the 2006 war).

The behavior of Saudi Arabia is interesting; on the one hand shooting down Houthi missiles (and repeating Israeli narratives on state television) makes it virtually a co-belligerent of Israel, but seeking better relations with Iran during the same period also makes it less likely that the war will spiral into a broader regional conflict.

I think the most parsimonious explanation is, just as they have been doing over the past few decades, the Palestinian liberationists are alienating their natural allies. They began with total sympathy from everyone in the Arab world; threw it away by rejecting peace deals in 2000/2008; and now once again look unsympathetic by trying to drag countries which are unready to fight into a regional war.

what

This is not new idea. Meir Kahane said exactly identical things and political parties inspired by him  though he has been dead for a while now sit in Knesset majority and have ministers when while in the 1980s they would have been banned from running for election at all by comission.

I suppose the most optimistic scenario is that hamas' control is as superficial as isis's was of mosul; and that everybody in gaza have hated their guts for years and even give them some of the blame for the carnage. Then you could indeed reintroduce PA authority over Gaza, although god knows what could happen then.
The PA s effectively no legitimacy left among t Palestinian population because it functions as a kleptocratic puppet state.

Also on another note it's kind of amazing the vile stuff Israeli settlement leaders will say while being interviewed.

You're just now hearing about this? This is how most if not all of the settlers feel.

CNN freelance Journalist, Hassan Eslaiah, filmed going to the Israel border with a hand grenade on October 7th, 2023.

Hassan has since been sacked by CNN after this report came to light.

https://honestreporting.com/photographers-without-borders-ap-reuters-pictures-of-hamas-atrocities-raise-ethical-questions/

CNN, AP, Reuters, NY Times have said they were unaware they were using reporters who were embedded in the October 7 massacre team. In fact, New York Times have re-hired a Hitler supporter to report for them on Gaza:

CBN News discusses these Honest Reporting stories about embedded Hamas operatives inside Gaza acting as Journalists for the Western Media.

JNS Jerusalem Bureau Chief

Alex Traiman

Alex said that Hamas needs the anti-Israel mouthpiece of the mainstream media to demonise the Jews.

He's actually Sir Tony Blair now. With the Order of the Garter no less, which is at the sole discretion of the monarch.

Is it not customary to raise former PMs to peerage? I seem to recall Denis Thatcher was even given an herediatery peerage

The hereditary peerage for Thatcher was a bit of an oddity, but the convention did used to be that former PMs got a seat in the Lords. That broke down because Major doesn't want one* and it would have been viewed as a slight to him to appoint his successors. As of today, obviously we no longer care about that.

*Brown also doesn't want one, unless it's as part of the procedure of abolishing the HoL as we know it. Blair isn't that bothered and there have been questions in the past about the financial disclosures required and how those might interfere with his business interests.

Latest and greatest from Lt. Colonel Jon Conricus talking about new developments in Gaza.

The Media Line

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97Cjo1CEEoA

Jon appeared very calm, almost casual about the progress of the IDF in disabling and dismantling the Hamas apparatus of war.

He warned Hezbollah that they will regret any escalation on the northern border.

Jon said that all of the concrete used to build the tunnels was provided as aid from US taxpayers plus donations from European and Japanese Governments.

Israel should continue to press for unilateral surrender, wherein Hamas either voluntarily disbands or agrees to become an instrument of Israeli government policy, but it is once again being demonstrated that people in this thread have a poor understanding of cause and effect.

Odd comment. It's not like anyone wants to take responsibility for their own mistakes, even if that is the right thing to do. People do this even though they don't want to.
