I’m not aware of anything that’s been invented since the iPhone.

In some ways. But I don't see us reaching a wholesale Yes situation unless Silicon Valley falls apart.

In some ways, yes. And in many ways that's a good thing.

I'm not sure which is worse:
1.thinking all smart phones are iPhones
2.thinking the iPhone was the first smart phone
3.believing that nothing of note has been invented since

I blame the media for your ignorance.

Uh ChatGPT is already starting a major AI race. I'd consider that a major innovation.

Definitely not.  AI generation, deep fakes, Chat GPT, metaverse, advancements in medical technology including stem cell research and genetic modification, breakthroughs on electric vehicles.  We are living in perhaps the most transformative time ever, definitely on par with the 1990s and the internet.

There hasn't been a brand-new device/household-appliance/other necessity invented since the smart phone, but there's been plenty of technological progress.

Never before has a single generation been completely wiped out globally by the development of technology

We have everything BadSanta mentioned plus heaps more being developed every month.

I am waiting for some medical technology to fix a few issues. You can have moles burnt out now with no residual scarring. It's truly amazing.

Following up on BasedSanta's post, I would point out the blatantly obvious fact that the first RNA vaccine was invented a little over two years ago, possibly paving the way to the cure for cancer and God knows what other disease. Right, it's not "technology" per se, but modern technology is sure used in its development.

You're not aware of any new technologies since 2007?

2020s' AI development will probably be the most significant revolution in technology (and probably society) since the internet.

Now I think that a singularity event is completely possible in our lifetimes.

Fascinating and scary.

We're witnessing an explosion in the capabilities of AI and just witnessed the fastest vaccine development and the first deployment of mRNA vaccines. Since the release of the iPhone we've seen continued improvements to computing power, HD video streaming become viable, the adoption of UHD technology, massive improvements in electric vehicles, and ground has broken on the first long distance maglev line.

We're literally in the middle of inventing cars that drive themselves and run on electricity. How is that not as big an invention as the iPhone?

But their major improvements still contradict the idea of "technological stagnation"
