Wasn’t there supposed to be a Nevada vote dump around now?

Wasn't this it? Or are you talking about something else?

That was Samuelsen's analysis of the voter file updates.  There were rumors (I think someone said they heard it on MSNBC?) that there would be more official results released around 9am PST (noon EST).

That was me - it's what I heard but I haven't heard/seen any other mention of it since. They might have been referring to the above rather than a vote dump. Sorry to misinform!

New York Times just called NY-18 for Pat Ryan. Had already been called by Cook and CNN.

I think we need to take a moment to consider what a special election in any remotely competitive seat will look like in a House with a majority in the low single digits.

There will probably be significant pressure from House leadership on reps not to resign or die.

imagining Kevin McCarthy screaming "DON'T YOU DIE ON ME!" to some octogenarian GOP backbencher lying in a hospital bed at Walter Reed.

Hey everyone new user here. Been following Atlas for years now, but only signed up a few weeks ago, and haven't taken the time to post yet, mostly because I was scared that Tuesday was going to be a huge red wave.

Anyway this election turned out to be both better and more genuinely exciting then I expected to be, and that's great. Lets hope CCM can pull it off, it looks great.

That also makes me realize, what's going to happen if a Representative is involved in a major scandal? Would there be pressure for them to resign even if it would mean flipping control?

If ME and AK would just publish the 2nd place votes from each candidate, these races could have been called on election night.  It's perfectly reasonable to have to wait a while to call an election that is extremely close, but it's absurd to wait more than a week to call an election that will likely be decided by 5+%.

Supporters of RCV should be demanding this.  The way this is being done just makes the system look bad for no good reason.  The delays are not due to slow vote counting, but to deliberately delaying the reporting of already counted results.

Kudos to NY. Seems like they counted a lot faster than 2020 which is one less thing to worry about. In 2020, NY was one of the worst offenders

Damn, Lindsey Graham has gone completely unhinged over all this. Trump really broke him. Imagine the absolute mental breakdown he will have if Walker loses next month. Make it happen, Georgia!

If other western democracies are anything to go by, party leaders get more accommodating of scandal as their margins get smaller. See Theresa May letting an MP credibly accused (and later convicted) of rape back into the party in order to win a confidence vote...

In the current partisan environment?  No one is ever resigning a decisive seat before the end of their term.  Even if there was a video of a violent crime.  And on top of that, the party trying to keep the majority would argue in court that it was unconstitutional for any prison sentences to begin until that person's term expires.

Thoughts on AZ-6 and AZ-1 .. based on votes dropped past 24 hours?

(and have your thoughts shifted in any way the past 24 hours?)

Not sure about AZ-1 … I would Tilt R.

AZ-6 is gone.

I want a 218-217 so bad - whatever the party.

I think NBC’s call is right on the money. If not 1 seat off either way (219-221)
