Sounds like Boris may back Mordaunt in order to stop Sunak?

I'm...fairly sure that's not going to work (and will make everyone involved look really stupid in the process).

Yeah, the remaining Boris supporters are a mix of headbangers and careerists. What do they get out of backing Penny Mordaunt, a socially liberal no-hoper?

^This. All of Boris’ backers, plus some undeclared would have to throw their lot behind Mordaunt, just to get on the ballot. And as we’ve seen with Zahawi - many Tories will prefer to back a ‘winner’ than fight to stop one.

Although, thinking on it, at this point this is a fairly convincing reason to believe that such a deal will be attempted.

Reminds me of what I read of the Redwood-Clarke deal in 1997 if a Boris-Mourdant deal exists, yes?

"I'm sure I would have won, but I have decided to drop out anyway. Bye."

Reminds me of the ending of Machete where Steven Seagal as the villain decides to commit seppuku, because the only one capable of defeating Steven Seagal is Steven Seagal.

...or a disintegrating F-117.

But seriously, this whole "But I totally got the required number of nominations. Seriously." act only cements him as the pound-shop Trump.

So Sunak will be the next PM? He should probably last until he f@cks up the NHS in December.
