By the way, Cuomo was the most senior governor in the United States, having served since 2011. Once his resignation is in effect, Jay Inslee will hold that title, as he's been in office since 2013.

Ironically, Hochul is also the most senior lt. governor, sworn in a few days before Karyn Polito of Massachuseets and Boyd Rutherford of Maryland.

Also a fun fact: Kathy Hochul's narrow loss in 2012 saved her in the long run and made her governorshio possible. Had she won, Cuomo would have picked someone else in 2014 and she would have absolutely lost her seat that year.

Kathy Hochul becomes the highest ranking woman executive ever in the United States, surpassing Ann Richards, who was Governor of Texas at a time when it had over a million fewer people than New York today.

Glad to see a Democrat in the Governor's Mansion for the first time in 10 years. Long overdue!

I expected this sort of outcome. This way Cuomo keeps his pension and the uncontested right to run for state office in the future.

The thing is that all Democratic governors since Pataki left in 2006 kinda screwed up.

I’d just like to take this opportunity to say that I voted for Cynthia Nixon.

I don’t really like Kathy Hochul as a politician but I’m of course pleased for our first woman governor and the first governor from upstate in a century.

It's wild to remember that FDR was the last Governor of New York from north of Westchester County.

And the last Governor of New York from Buffalo itself was... Grover Cleveland(!)

President Hochul when?

I'd also like to take this opportunity to say that I donated to her, & would've voted for her were I a resident of NY.

Could be used out of context, but it's important to note Biden asked for clarification if the question was about Cuomo's personal life or the job he did as governor, and the reporter replied the latter.

Cuomo wasn't right-wing, he was whatever benefited himself at any given moment.

He is being taken out of context

Biden was specifically being asked about how felt about Andrew Cuomo when it came to his infrastructure bill

The reporter who asked that question brought up the fact the Cuomo supported his infrastructure plans and he wanted to know what Biden thought about that

The thing is that all Democratic governors since Pataki left in 2006 kinda screwed up.
The only elected democratic governor of New York post WWII who left as a result of retirement, as opposed to losing reelection or resigning in disgrace, was Hugh Carey, who left office way back in 1983

I'm actually surprised he finally saw the light and is resigning. Good f***ing riddance to our Trump.

It should also be said that another benefit to this occurrence is that we no longer need to hear wild speculation about what a 2022 gubernatorial election with a scandal-plagued Cuomo looks like. We're probably going to get a nice, peaceful, safe D election with Hochul instead now that will lack any suspense whatsoever.

Wasn't expecting that.

Good riddance. Nothing can undo the sexual assaults or, hell, those nursing home patients he killed, and he still belongs behind bars, but at least the state can start to move on as normal.
