I remember the 2018 NY gubernatorial thread, where Cuomo’s desire for a fourth term seemed basically unstoppable. If you’d told us then that he wouldn’t finish three, let alone start a fourth, few would believe you.

I will say this about him at least he understands that the problems that New York faces are bigger than him.

He could have put up a big fight, but instead he did the right thing by recognizing that if he did that it would only cause problems for the state that he claims he loves so much

This is the kind of speech someone like Trump would have never given

Surprising development, but at least it's a safe Dem seat.

The son wasn't able to outlast the father's record 3 terms.

I haven't seen a display of human brotherhood like this in a while. Maybe the hippies were right, as long as we all have a blatantly boneheaded common enemy.

Yep. He's terrible, but at least he made the right decision. Trump would never let his ego do it.

Considering he *caused* most of these problems through corrupt insider deals and sheer negligence, I think you're giving the man too much credit.

Cuomo is gone; crab rave! youtu.be/LDU_Txk06tM

I don’t think any political development in my adult life has ever made me as happy as this one. My only regret is that I didn’t have the chance to actually vote him out.

Oh I’m seeing it now: Hillary runs for and wins the governorship of New York. Biden doesn’t run in 2024. Kamala tanks in the primaries. Gov. Clinton steps in, is nominated and beats DeSantis in an epic Jeb! style landslide.

IT WAS ALL PART OF THE PLAN! TRUST THE PLAN! DEEP STATE ALWAYS WINS!!! Cuomo is just another casualty in the Clintons’ ruthless pursuit of power. They are inevitable.

2024 election: New York Governor Hillary Clinton vs. US House Speaker Donald Trump

Not the election America wants, but the one it deserves

This is hilarious.

Cuomo stopped short of forcing them to eject him from the governor's mansion kicking and screaming, and not by much. He dragged this out for as long as he could. He spent months lying, calling in favors, and doing everything he could to discredit his accusers and the investigation. In the process, he damaged his party, tainted reputations, and destroyed careers.

If he wanted credit for owning up to his failures and the damage that he has done to other people, the time for that was many months ago at the latest.

I must have missed when Trump resigned.

I agree with you and to be clear my original post was not meant to portray Cuomo as some kind of hero for doing as you correctly pointed out something he should have done a long time ago

I was simply saying that I find it hard to believe that Trump would have ever resigned if he was in that same position

Quick, impeach him before he leaves and convict him while he’s out of office.

You know Cuomo is gonna resign before he gets removed and he keeps his pension, Trump and Bull Clinton and Nixon all played the impeachment game, but D's errored, if Gore was the incumbent he would have beaten Bush W, he would have won NH 271/266

I wanted Clinton removed, so what if he lost his pension and Hillary didn't become Prez anyways

They all are rich, Byron Dorgan, Kent Conrad lost anyways and they were blue Dogs, Tim Johnson, Robert C Byrd, Tom Daschle, Harry Reid Breaux, Landrieu all lost,  all would have cleared the path for PREZ Gore

Man, I totally forgot Kathy Hochul was the one that won that special election in 2011. Crazy that was over a decade ago.

Congratulations to Kathy Hochul for becoming the first female governor of New York! She'll be an amazing governor. Let's go Queen!

I don’t really like Kathy Hochul as a politician, but I’m of course pleased for our first woman governor and the first governor from upstate in a century.

It's wild to remember that FDR was the last Governor of New York from north of Westchester County.
