Now we hear the argument that Trump should skate because the Pubs are so crazy that if they get in power in Congress again, they are going to impeach and convict all of their political enemies who once held federal office who were accused of something once, like Eric Holder. I guess Hillary Clinton was not mentioned since she  no longer has the potential to be a political threat.

I hope that helps clear up Scott's confusion on the Holder matter that he mentioned above. I am here to help!  Angel

Lol did Castor just cite the Nixon-Ford transition as an example of the people speaking and not needing an impeachment?

Seriously.

He's also going with "we never needed to do this before when a one termer was not re-elected."

Hey Castor, HW Bush didn't scream "stop the steal" and rail on and on about how a "landslide" was ripped away from him.

This is such a tremendous gift for Senate Republicans. They can so easily say "The case was made" and vote to convict and then let the blowback die off between now and 2022. They won't, but they should.

The blowback wouldn't die off. We're dealing with a cult here.

I don't know if anyone else posted this but I found it interesting:

13 Senators have been jurors in 3 out of the 4 Presidential impeachment trials:
Patrick Leahy of Vermont
Chuck Grassley of Iowa
Mitch McConnell of Kentucky
Richard Shelby of Alabama
Dianne Feinstein of California
Patty Murray of Washington
Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma
Ron Wyden of Oregon
Dick Durbin of Illinois
Jack Reed of Rhode Island
Susan Collins of Maine
Chuck Schumer of New York
Mike Crapo of Idaho

And if the trial happened just a little over a month earlier Pat Roberts of Kansas and Mike Enzi of Wyoming would also be included in this list.

Anyone besides Bernie who served in the House and Senate for all 3 modern impeachments? Not sure if I'm phrasing it correctly.

EDIT: Remember now Graham was in the House for Clinton's as well.

Yep! Besides Bernie and Graham there were quite a few:
Debbie Stabenow of Michigan
Richard Burr of North Carolina
John Thune of South Dakota
Bob Menendez of New Jersey
Ben Cardin of Maryland
Sherrod Brown of Ohio
Roger Wicker of Mississippi
Roy Blunt of Missouri
Jerry Moran of Kansas
Rob Portman of Ohio
Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania
Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin

EDIT: I totally forgot about Ed Markey!

Paraphrasing, but "We had to change our defense because the House managers did a good job with their argument" is really not something I ever expected to hear.

Brilliant.

Honestly, I think a lot of it would. By the time the Senators have primaries in 2024 or 2026 it probably will have for the most part. People have such short memories in this country. Even a lot of the QAnon types will be moving onto the next thing.

That was a half hour of a whole lotta nothing.

His concluding argument/point: "lol Trump's already been removed guys - by the voters!"

Terrible. Just terrible.

People are drawing comparisons between this dude and Giuliani, but I disagree. I think that assuming I knew nothing whatsoever about the legal system I would have done about the same as Giuliani. However, I truly think that even with zero knowledge of Congress I could have defended Trump better than that Castor guy.

There has not been one word stated to counteract the charge that Trump incited a riot.

Tbf, this isn’t the substantive debate of the charge, only whether or not the trial itself is constitutional.

Wow, Schoen is so angry about this! Take a chill pill, my guy!

EDIT: I just realized he sounds like an angry Wolf Blitzer.

"This will tear the country apart" is the same logic as "don't tell anyone that Uncle Arthur touched you, it will tear the family apart"

Schoen keeps going on about how these proceedings will "tear the nation apart" and "party over country".

Did he miss what happened on the 6th or...?

If it is indeed so offensive that people not be able to vote for whoever they choose then why is it in the Constitution? Heck, why are term limits in the Constitution?

Didn't this guy just pick on the House impeachment managers for using a fancy video?

Also, thanks for all the reminders of all the times Democrats saw Trump needed to be removed way before we got to this point.

Running against Trump again would be better for Democrats because they could use the riot against him effectively in an election. Taking him out of the equation is as beneficial politically as this lawyer is trying to portray it.
