Trump says "if you are healthy, you will be fine."

While it is true that most people will not die (or require a ventilator), that is downplaying things.

Telling the truth is downplaying things???

He didn't say that most healthy people will be fine. He said "if you are healthy, you will be fine."

Implying that all healthy people will be fine and that there is no risk unless you already have another condition, which is not the case.

"Additional cases in the United States are likely, but healthy individuals should be able to fully recover." OK to me.

So apparently Trump just called the coronavirus a hoax at his rally...

That's unhinged.

Even for him, that is probably the most disgusting, disturbing, terrifying, and irresponsible thing to ever leave his mouth.

But he doesn't call virus a hoax. He called Democrats politicizing it a hoax.

But what can you expect of people that Bloomy tricked into believing he was endorsed by Obama  Angry

Free Press!

I watched the clip. Without any context it sounds like he's calling the virus itself a hoax. Now maybe he talked a whole lot of about the virus earlier that night so no one would interpret that way, and of course we know he knows the virus is real. But he still said what he said. What does it even mean to say the Democrats politicizing it is a hoax? Of course that's happening.

Huh

He literally brags before and after how good he/US to was in preventing virus. Then he is accusing Dems and "Free" press politicization the whole thing and criticizing him (in bad faith he means). What more context do you need?

The before is "We did one of the great jobs you see."

The after is "But you know we did something that's been pretty amazing. We're 15 people in this massive country. And because of the fact, that we went early, we won early, we could have had a lot more than that. We're doing great. Our country is doing so great. We are so unified. We are so unified."

In between that is all his conspiracy nonsense.

Increased entry security on the Mexican border.

No mention of similar measures on the Canadian border though...

I guess the idea is that Canadians must be immune, but Mexicans are much more susceptible to infectious disease...

A pet dog has been placed in quarantine in Hong Kong after it tested a "weak positive" for the novel coronavirus, authorities said.

The dog was handed over to the Hong Kong Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) after its owner was infected with the coronavirus, the department said in a statement.

"We're working with authorities in Hong Kong and scientists in Hong Kong who are testing ... the dog ... to understand these results and to understand where or if the dog was actually infected or if the dog picked this up from a contaminated surface, for example," Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove, technical lead of the World Health Organization's Health Emergencies Program, said during a press briefing Friday.

Perhaps he's just trying to be a good neighbor and keep it from spreading to Mexico.

This administration is so stupid:

One country is one of the world most advanced and rich democracies.
The other one is a poor semi-corrupt, semi-unstable sh**thole country that has zero control over its border.

Which one is more dangerous if they get an outbreak of the virus. Tough question obiously Huh
The semi-stable s__thole (USA).

Not sure if it's been posted yet, but the first COVID-19 death in the U.S. has been confirmed: https://www.cnn.com/2020/02/29/health/us-coronavirus-saturday/index.html

Just with regards to the mix-up on the recent fatality:

It appears that Inslee initially had "he" in his statement about the victim and then changed it to "their", indicating that the mistake was on his end.

In any case, it'll be important to hear more about this first death and any pre-existing conditions he or she may have had.

This is a frightening scenario if this confirms, though I should responsibly add that "symptoms" doesn't automatically convert to cases of the virus.

WA state officials just confirmed that the victim was a male in his fifties who suffered from pre-existing conditions. He was apparently associated with but not a patient of the aforementioned long-term care center.

Jeff Duchin, health officer for Seattle and King Counties, later said in a CDC press briefing that the patient was a man who had "significant, chronic, underlying health conditions."

Not surprising.  It appears that COVID-19 is following a pretty standard mortality curve that includes individuals who are immuno-suppressed, suffering from existing respiratory issues, etc.

Is it just respiratory/cardiovascular/immune conditions, or would other preeixsting conditions increase death risk?
