No, it should have been obvious that this guy was fake.  He was a lifelong republican and voted for gwb twice.  The establishment, as is typical, shoved some corporate friendly asshole down everyone's throats and demonized periello, and the moronic masses predictably bought it.

I always liked Fairfax more than Northam. Shame on the circumstances that may lead to  Fairfax ending up in the Governor's mansion...

Heads up, if Northam resigns Justin Fairfax will become the youngest currently serving U.S. governor (aged 39, Ron DeSantis is 40)

He should have mentioned this when he first ran for office and pointed out that he was no longer that person.

This. It makes me uncomfortable to know that he didn't.

Can Justin Fairfax run for reelection if he becomes governor? There is a one term limit in Virginia, but he hasn't be elected governor in the first place.

Yes. Article V, Section 1 of the Virginia Constitution only stipulates that "He shall be ineligible to the same office for the term next succeeding that for which he was elected, and to any other office during his term of service," so he'll be able to run for a full first term since he wouldn't have been elected to this term, though it's an unusual circumstance (to say the least) considering Northam is the first Gov. of VA since the Civil War not to complete his term, w/ VA being the only state never to have had a succession in all those years.

Northam probably figured he had enough explaining to do with his two votes for George W. Bush, and didn't need to pile more sh**t on top of that. Not that this is an excuse or anything.

Additionally Fairfax gets to appoint his LG. This doesn't sound all that important, but then one realizes that the LG is an elected office just like the Gov in VA, and the person who gets that office would have the same incumbency advantage that Fairfax will have.

Yes, he is a Democrat. That's what you thought was shady.

The only way Northam survives this is if he becomes a Republican and claims it was all an act to trigger the libs with edgy comedy.

How stupid does this guy think the people are in his state? The latest excuse (denying it) after already admitting it was him betrays the contempt he (and most establishment Democrats in general) holds for the average Joe.
