There's a lengthy discussion about this in the megathread, just so you know.

This is a lot like the 2020 primary. Everybody knew it was going to be Biden so they wanted to see other candidates and the moment the crazy pick look it going to win everybody went to Biden.

A separate thread is better because the megathread is for news and discussion about this clogs it up.

Although, to be fair, the downfall was partially due to the Bernie campaign deciding to hyperfocus on turning out their base. Turns out making enemies with everyone leaves you unable to break past 30%.

Lol so I logged in to my account for the first time in ages to ask, is there a reason everyone is ignoring the Tony Coehlo thing about Biden's people being down to Duckworth or Bass? Seems weird if he was a plant. Is everyone just viewing him as a quack?

Because it’s a giant game of telephone that goes against all the other reporting that we’ve seen thus far.

Rice would be fine in a position that didn't require an election. Like SoS. And as long as we have a plurality of votes, it wouldn't matter about "MUH BENGHAZI"

Is there any meaning to the fact that Biden is apparently gonna do a live joint fundraiser with Warren the night before he’s supposed to announce his pick?

So do we think this is a "let Warren supporters down easy while getting money out of them one last time before they get annoyed" fundraiser OR a "preview of what's to come" fundraiser? Because with that July 31st timing, it's surely set up to be one or the other.

I’m glad to see at least some of his supporters understand that.

Still, I think it would have been an uphill battle for him to ever gain enough votes in this party to win even if he ran a kinder, gentler campaign. The moderates/establishment were likely gonna consolidate around SOMEONE, be that Biden or whoever else. And the harsh fact is most black voters (and, seemingly, a lot of WWC voters who only voted for hin last time as the “someone else” option) simply do not trust Bernie and were not gonna be swayed to vote for him no matter what. Bernie could have made it more competitive, but I honestly think 2016 may have been almost his best case scenario. He was doomed to lose a one-on-one with Biden and most other candidates. Maybe his only hope actually was praying that the field remained divided long enough for him to pull off a Trump 2016 and scrape by with a plurality as a factional candidate.

Probably the former

Maybe they’re trying to stealth-push Rice so leftists will find Harris more amenable.

I was just thinking this.

Hasn't really gotten much interest. But the article got updated and yeah it does just seem even more like a game of telephone.

IF the announcement is on Saturday, could that mean a no on Harris?

I was thinking the same thing. Or it could be their first "event" together. Who knows

Exactly. I'm glad we can come to an understanding.

So August 1 has been confirmed as the announcement? I thought it was all secondhand info.

I'd imagine a state convention in a swing state (Dependent on the individual) would be a good 'debut' event for the running mate, prior to the DNC

Seems to me like a rumor everyone’s just latched onto.
