Guys the SOTU response is literally nothing but someone staring into a teleprompter and reading a canned statement that basically amounts to "We respectfully disagree with what the President said and this is why." Its an incredibly pointless ritual that has propelled no one to stardom.
If anything it’s been repeatedly detrimental.

If a Democratic president is elected in 2020 or 2024, they must face the fact that the 2022 and 2026 midterm elections may likely be a Republican wave. The president's party usually loses seats in a midterm election.

Current House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy would probably be the next Speaker of the House if Republicans win control of the House in 2022 or 2026. Would a Democratic president be ready for that, or is the 2020s census going to lock Republicans out of congressional control?

Even if Harris wins in 2020, Speaker McCarthy isn't guarenteed.  The gubernatorial map and Senate map favors the Dems, in 2022

Far be it from me to defend a dude I have on my ignore list because his posts cause me headaches, but Ola Conde or whatever his name is has a real problem with syntax. I think he was making two separate points, but his grammar and punctuation did not make this clear.

So what? Discrimination happens (unfortunately) everytime. What's so special about this case?

The victim was white so the right cares more.

An excellent twofer from a racist troll who will be gone soon and a racist troll who should have been gone a long time ago.

trump will win in new hampshire and maine. conn and ri will fall until 2032. and mass and vermont until 2040.  new england patriots are already on maga train, so their super bowl wins and white house victory visits will only lead to further trump's popularity in region.

They’d still be demanding that he resign (and I certainly would), you guys don’t seem to understand that the condemnation of Northam is coming from a genuine place in contrast to the Republican condemnations of Steve King whose racism was apparently fine by the GOP until he used the term “white supremicist.”  Just because the Republican party happily gives Trump a free pass on being a racist, misogynistic bigot who pals around with anti-Semites like Steve Bannon doesn’t mean that no one on the Democratic side talks like a preacher b/c they go to church every Sunday with respect to these sorts of issues.  This thread honestly reads like OP twisting himself in knots and grasping at straws to find some sort of “Democrats are the real hypocrites angle here.”  And speaking of hypocrisy, where was the Virginia Republican Party’s concern about racism when Corey Stewart was nominated for Senate last year?

This is in context to if democrats would demand Northam's resignation if the Lt. Gov was a Republican

If only Hillary talked more about her economic policy, these two fellows would have voted for her.

All of this said, I would believe allegations like this against certain other politicians. That's because some certain politicians are known to have policies that are intentionally designed to harm people. I'm thinking of some of the members of Congress who support things like cutting Social Security.

Hearing around from my non political circles, people who just watch local news... There's a lot of skepticism around the Fairfax stuff. 'Why did she wait so long', 'How can you force oral', 'Why didn't she bite?' Think a lot more people are more nuanced on the MeToo stuff than most people in the media think.

Looking at how Arizona voted prior to 2016, it's definitely looking more like a swing state than it was in the Obama years, and if we're going to say that the recent results in Iowa/Ohio mean that they're no longer swing states, it's only consistent to say that the recent results in Arizona suggest that it is a swing state that could very well go Democratic.

Ohio is still among the top four most competitive states at this point. It's more likely to go Democratic than Arizona, North Carolina, Florida, Georgia or Texas. One major reason for this might be that it's in the north, unlike all these other states. Southern states are in general very static due to race and religion being so dominant in their politics. Northern states are much more open to having an open mind about politics and world affairs.
