An update to the third-party madness: the Serve America Movement has endorsed Miner and her campaign will circulate petitions to get the party on the ballot in November.

I always love me a good chaotic race with a bunch of third parties Tongue

But for real though, she would probably be my candidate in the election if I lived in NY.

She could've run in NY-24 and beaten Katko, but noooo...

I'm never going to get over that. Truly a stupid move.

Miner's incompetence during all this doesn't exactly give me confidence that she could've defeated Katko.

I'll probably be the only Miner vote in my Brooklyn precinct Tongue

It would have been worth a shot, at least.

Justice Democrats have endorsed Nixon. She is the fifth candidate to be endorsed by Justice Democrats, after Abdul el-Sayed (MI), Ben Jealous (MD), Matt Brown (RI) and Christine Hallquist (VT).

I'll take Balter over her, anyways.

This kinda reminds me of NE-02, when there were 17 threads on how the Dems had messed up, when, looking back, Ashford was a bad candidate who lost in 2016, when the district went +2Trump.

Balter is fine, its just that Kalto, is, well, Kalto.

There were polls showing Ashford leading by large margins in a 2018 rematch.

There was one poll, released by the NRCC. Not the best info. Its not even published on wikipedia, or ballotpedia, I had to go find it in the thread.
It also is likely due more to name rec, rather than actual problems with Eastman. Ashford was down in the poll by 2, Eastman by 8, not that big of a difference, especially since that was back around April/May.

This is an overly simplistic platform that suggests a fundamental failure to understand or complete indifference to both the realities of how the criminal justice system works and the nuances of some of these issues.  For example, having the AG investigate every use of deadly force by the police is insane and, to put it bluntly, rather dumb.  Aside from being a bureaucratic nightmare that would simply result in a massive waste of time, manpower, and taxpayer dollars investigating things like drug dealers who got shot for pulling guns on the police or snipers taking out some nutjob the moment they have a clear shot in a hostage situation.  Most officers are not running around improperly using deadly force and pretending they are undermines the efforts of those who are actually interested in implementing serious criminal justice reform instead of treating police brutality as little more than an opportunity to score cheap political points with a silly, virtue-signaling tweet.

Ending arrests for ticketable offenses could mean ending arrests for disorderly conduct, drunk and disorderly conduct, and other serious offenses, especially if some whacktivist judge looking for an easy headline finds that “ticketable” refers to any offense which “could potentially result in only a fine if the defendant is convicted” (which might mean you couldn’t be arrested for resisting arrest).  Again, this is ridiculous and something no rational person should support.

People who are wrongfully arrested should not be prosecuted for resisting arrest.

People can’t be physically attacking police officers regardless of whether they’re rightly or wrongly convicted.

Just running from police can be considered resisting arrest.

Actually, I believe you'd need to recklessly cause physical harm to a police officer by means of a deadly weapon or brandish a deadly weapon during the course of resisting or interfering with the arrest in question.

I’d normally say something about how you clearly need to work on your reading comprehension, but I realize you probably didn’t bother reading my post before making your three word drive by “response” which added literally nothing to the discussion, much less anything insightful.  Even so, if you’re going to cut out 95% of a person’s post, it’s generally considered both bad form and pretty disingenuous to modify their post when you quote it without indicating that you did so.
