The debate only solidified my vote for Cuomo

I guess if your only knowledge of New York politics and Cuomo came from the debate this would be a passable position.

I just watched the debate. Cuomo did terrible, I'm actually surprised. Nixon wasn't nearly as good as some people here are claiming, however. Cuomo did have a point about her interrupting. She would also do this thing where instead of answering the question, she would attack Cuomo? Not that I'm opposed to attacking Cuomo, but I'm not sure how well that would play since most Democrats do like Cuomo.

Though half of the debate was about subjects that have nothing to do with upstate, so I was pretty unimpressed in general. If there was any moment that I think would cause any movement, it would be when Nixon claimed Cuomo received money from the Koch brothers. From a few comments I've seen, that might have changed a few minds.

I really want Cuomo to lose, but this debate will do nothing. I guess our best hope is that the Weinstein story gets coverage.

She came of as rude and totally ignorant of fact and how government works. I thought he wiped the floor with her but I have little faith in the voting public or polls anymore. Nixon told people what they wanted to hear.

"Wiped the floor" by falsely (and hilariously) calling her a corporate Democrat, among other idiotic false statements.

She knows absolutely nothing about how government works and is totally unqualified and was incredibly rude. The debate only solidified my vote for Cuomo
yeah, I have no idea what you are talking about. Neither of them talked about government really, and it was mostly about issues. And Cuomo spent most of the debate attacking Nixon, and calling her a "corperate" democrat, a Socialist, basically anything. And if you are willing to vote for a man who received a bribe to end the Weinstein investigation, then I have nothing to say.

If Twitter was an accurate indicator, Nixon would be on her way to pulling off one of the biggest political upsets of the century.

If Twitter was an appropriate indicator, Austin Petersen would've won the Missouri primary by 50 rather than losing it by 50.

You always find unnecessary times to ding me.

Besides, Peterson never had a chance, Nixon does.

The point is that Twitter means nothing.

I know. And that's why I (very clearly) said that.

That story has no proof. The source it came from is highly questionable but people dont check source anymore.

I dunno. The system only works when there is low turnout, and even then, it didnt work in the house races. If the Weinstein controversy sticks, and Nixon ramps it up, then I say its a tossup.

NY campaign finance records seem to be a good enough source.

The probe was ended as to not interfere with the trial of Weinstein but no one is going to talk about that part.

NY is a weird state. It essentially has Jim Crow voting laws that ensure the establishment can never be meaningfully challenged. Until the IDC garbage is crushed and the State Senate flips....nothing will change and connoisseurs of fraud like Cuomo will just keep winning.

You dont think there is anything suspicious with the fact that less than a week after receiving a donation, he ends the probe?

True, but it does seem like things are changing. The IDC is afraid, many of them look likely to lose their primaries, and Teachout seems to be the favorite for the AG position now.

The IDC will be crushed and the State Senate will flip in November but it'll be too late by then. Crooked Cuomo will be the nominee and i wouldn't be surprised if he starts vetoing progressive legislation regarding voting rights, marijuana, etc...

I'd vote for her if I lived in New York state! If Ronald Reagan and Arnold Schwarzenegger can be Governors of California, or Jesse Ventura be Governor of Minnesota, why can’t Cynthia Nixon be Governor of New York State?

Uh, I'd vote for her but those are not comparisons you don't want to make. All three were TERRIBLE Governors.

I won't dispute that! Smiley

I would like to see Nixon run on the WFP line and see what a debate with Cuomo, Nixon, Molinaro, Miner and Hawkins. Pure chaos.

Cuomo is many things, but he is not an idiot. If he does that, it means he isn't running for President, something he desperately wants to do...so I think he'd sign such legislation (especially any voting rights legislation).

The campaign contributions (bribes) Cuomo has taken signal to me that he never prepared for the State Senate to flip and his whole IDC scam to come tumbling down. I would imagine, anyone who's spent their political lifetime taking bribes from these people would have to pay them back somehow.

Cuomo stopped probe into Harvey Weinstein 6 days after being paid $25,000 by his attorney.

https://www.salon.com/2018/08/29/cuomo-collected-25000-from-weinstein-attorneys-firm-six-days-before-suspension-of-probe-report/

But me too hero Kristin Gillibrand endorsed Cuomo so it's all OK.

Cuomo moped the floor with Nixon, who was very arrogant and not likeable. She's a phony who has little knowledge of governing.

It's basically guaranteed that some, but not all, will be defeated. Alcantara and Perlata, and possibly Avella, are generally seen as underdogs, while Hamilton and Klein are in the fights of their lives. Carlucci and Valesky are favored, while Savino is virtually safe.

I agree completely. I just hope the people of my state and city see it that way.  As Nixon keeps claiming the polls are wrong and the majority of people she's canvassed are voting for her.

If the IDC is reduced to 1 member, then it will be a glorious day. Nixon winning her primary would be even better, especially considering how much of a slime bag Cuomo is.
