Yeah, I support gun control (normal Brit) but I don't think the emotional blackmail really helps - it's no different from some drone demanding to ban all Muslims after every terrorist attack (or the mood that led to the passage of the PATRIOT act).

This is the prime reason why the NRA should be declared a terrorist organization.

I am for banning all guns besides law enforcement and military, but this statement is still ridiculous.

I could barely keep it together when I saw the clips from inside the school. That could have been mine. Believe it or not, I am a human with emotions (and a strongly anti-gun one) behind the screen and not a cyborg. I do send my thoughts and prayers, but that is not enough on its own. America can do better, come on!

The UK banned guns for law enforcement.  You rarely hear about Ferguson-type situations there.

I should clarify here: police officers do not habitually carry guns in Britain, but they are not banned. If anybody has been to a tourist attraction in London for example, they will see a good few armed officers (and the number of armed policemen have increased in recent years).

Oh, my God! Now we know what the disciplinary matters were.

Fully-automatic weapons are for the military and the police, and not for use by the general public (if we are to have any common sense). They have no legitimate sporting use, and they have no collectible value except perhaps for the FBI museum of criminal weapons.

Even in the astronomically unlikely event that any remotely meaningful gun control legislation passes  Congress and isn't vetoed by the current President, the current post-Heller, Federalist Society-approved Supreme Court would simply strike it down as unconstitutional. So federal legislation is pointless at this point.

What's your point? The police don't want to be armed, but they should be cause they look a bit silly? I don't know about you, but if the choice is between my country  - where cops can only be armed if they have been trained and shoot-outs are subsequently rare - and yours, where cops can shoot just about anybody who "resists" and where every petty criminal carries a firearm - I'd take the silly looks.

The GOP wouldn't do anything even with 117 dead instead of 17. Some even opposed restricting gun sales for terrorists on a no-fly list. Most, inculding some Democrats, are completely in the pocket of the NRA (so much for draining the swamp). However, gun laws alone won't fix the problem.

That is all he does .... he defends the NRA and does nothing in the House to keep our kids and citizens safe.
