Stupid Cruz’s problem is shutting down the government.  GOP businessman just hate that.  He needs to promise no more shutdowns. .

I'm not sure if you were joking or not but it seems like that may be the case.

Why would you think I was joking.  I detest Cruz.  I hate government shutdowns.

There was a story linked on DKE about how a lot of big TX donors are keeping their wallets shut out of long memory displeasure over Cruz’s first term antics

It sounded like something Trump would say "he needs to promise NO MORE SHUTDOWNS! (sad!)" and anyone who talks like that on atlas I immediately think is joking because that's the case like 95% of the time.

I've become aware of quite a few Abbott-O'Rourke voters -- my , uncle, and quite a few of my friends' parents included. Typically upper-middle/upper class suburban whites. Not sure how big the ticket splitting will be, but it's becoming more and more common for me to hear about as we get closer to the election.

It's Texas, I imagine the DFW and Dallas metro areas are really expensive to buy ads in, as well as the large rural portions of the state.  Still it is a big deal that they're spending that much.

There are 18 Significant Media markets in Texas. It is expensive to campaign in a state this big.

The GOP  IS NOT worried about Cruz losing. They worry the margin will be underwhelming and allow Dems to gather enthusiasm in the state.

Ted Cruz is going to win re-election. We are not going to lose this seat. Senator Cruz is one of the great heroes of our time and he is not going to lose to someone like Beto O'Rourke. He is too energized and too committed to lose. When it is all said and done, Senator Cruz will win this election.

Who remembers back in 2010 when Republicans were pretending that they could win CA-GOV and CA-SEN?

How did that work out for them?

I did hear that, yes. Someone familiar may have been the one who said that, in fact. Smiley

McCain did worse than Goldwater for CA, meanwhile Hillary gave the best record since 1996 for TX. There's a bit of a difference.

I would agree that TX-SEN 2018 will be closer than CA-GOV and CA-SEN 2010, but that doesn't mean O'Rourke is going to win it.

Even light blue states like CO held firm against the 2010 Red Wave.

Texas is at least as red as CO was blue.

I don't think Beto is likely to win either, but CO also had a weak Republican candidate, and Illinois elected a Republican senator that year.
